Sayuri had relaxed again in the water, she turned though to rest with her arms crossed on the edge of the tub. There she settled her head in the crooks of her arms, she did sit back up with an interested brow, at Sasha’s aspiration.
“Oh? Spoil me how?” She asked, laying her head back down but turned so she could face Sasha while he spoke.
Sayuri nodded, like she was considering her options and mulling them over in her mind. Sasha had her number, Sayuri was a big fan of all those things for sure. But if could have one wish, one reward, she knew what she would ask for.
“I think I just want my freedom. My debts paid, my name cleared, and to go somewhere the yakuza won’t find me ever again.” Sayuri said honestly. “But I’m not saying no to the money, or the jewels, or the paid for onsen experience.” She added with a short chuckle.
Sasha couldn't help but let out a little puff of laughter at what he was learning was Sayuri's brand of wit, all sarcasm that bordered on "crass". His expression softened after though, circling back to her true request. Something about the simplicity of such a request made him ache just a little. He had tried to keep his gaze to himself for the sake of modesty, but in that moment he turned his head to look at her proper.
"Those things...you don't even have to ask for." He said to her. "I thought that much was obvious. I wouldn't ever make you go back to the yakuza or Joe." _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Sayuri gave a weak shrug, paired with an even wearer smile. “You’d be surprised how often things don’t work out for me, for one reason or another. I’ve been close before-” she began to explain, a certain level of defeat edge on her voice. Though she was touched by Sasha’s earnest declaration, and she did believe him. But she was aware there were a lot of variables at work, a lot depended on her getting Sasha to their destination in one piece. “Tell me again at the finish line, that way I know it’s real.” Sayuri said, forcing herself to smile in effort to assure him.
Sasha knew that Sayuri had been forced to endure for most of her life, so her weariness was not surprising, in fact, it was to be expected. Still, it made him all the more tender for her. He smiled small and nodded his head at her.
"I'll tell you as many times as you need to hear it." He said. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Sayuri and Sasha finished their soak with casual chit chat. When it was time to get out, Sayuri shrugged her robe around herself and found her way back to the women’s locker room. She discarded her clothes from before, and on her way out she made sure to put together an outfit of stolen clothing articles. She had made that long trek out of the city in a short dress and barefoot, and she was not going to keep walking around barefoot if she could help it. Sayuri settled on a pair of white sneakers that were a size too big, even with socks, but it was a nice reprieve from the soles of her feet trudging pavement. She matched Sasha’s disguise somewhat, with a big t shirt and a baseball cap. She also stole a pair of sunglasses that were from the front desk, probably belonging to the teen girl originally working the front. The only thing she kept from her original outfit was Sasha’s jacket, at this point it would have to be pried off of her if someone wanted it that badly. Inside the jacket, she kept the stolen cash concealed on the inside breast pocket of Sasha’s jacket for safe keeping. Pickpocketing didn’t really happen in Japan, except for when Sayuri was doing it, but she felt better keeping it close to her chest.
When she rejoined with Sasha, she had already recounted what she had and made the calculations in her head of what was in budget. Although she had to make sure whatever hotel they went to was safe and not yakuza run. Sayuri could tell from some places easily, there were a lot of girls loitering in the lobby or around the bar, or bikers hanging outside the establishments. Even if those were coincidences, she wasn’t going to take a chance. It took some walking, and she appreciated Sasha’s faith in her. When she took turns down one way streets to walk a fence, he followed. If she turned a corner and determined it wasn’t safe for them, he let her lead the way on a different path. They were father now from the area they were, near the train and the onsen. Sayuri was sure Sasha wasn’t a fan of all the additional walking after having walked all morning. Sayuri would agree it wasn’t ideal, the extra steps seemed to cancel out their long soak from before. But Sayuri felt it was worth it when they reached a fashion boutique, which was just a peculiar name for a love hotel. These were usually not a good place to go if you were hiding from the yakuza, but Sayuri observed that there was an empty parking lot with full vacancies. There were no cameras on the outside or in the lobby, there were no outdoor lights to illuminate the parking lot; so if there were camera’s, you wouldn’t see them anyways. And when Sayuri poked her head inside the lobby, like the onsen before, purchase was done through vending machine. They would select their room via the machine, it would disperse a ticket to be exchanged with a single front desk clerk for the room key.
The most attractive part of this stay was the nightly rate, which was a deal in Sayuri’s opinion. The equivalent to about thirty-seven US dollars a night and they only needed one. That meant they could afford a breakfast, or a short shuttle to their next closest destination. The bad news about that price point, was they were definitely getting what they paid for. The room was large and alien themed, most love hotel’s room’s had themes. It wasn’t uncommon for rooms to have two double beds, but this one had a single Alaskan king in the shape of a circle, the bedding and bed frame styled to make the bed look like a flying saucer. The room had carpet, which looked visually questionable, Sayuri chose to keep her stolen shoes on if she was crossing the room. But it did have a full bathroom with a standing shower, a flat screen tv that was mounted to the wall above a full entertainment system. The entertainment system was stocked with CD’s, nothing from this decade though, and a karaoke machine.
“Now I know what you’re thinking,” Sayuri began as she let themselves into the room. She began doing a different type of quality checks, checking that mirror wasn’t double sided, that the locks worked and that there weren’t camera’s in the outlets or hidden in the walls. She even pulled up the thin vinyl and silver colored fitted sheet back from the mattress to check for bedbugs. “They could’ve leaned into the UFO theme more.” A joke.
When Sayuri had told Sasha that a hotel room was in budget, he didn't imagine they'd be staying at the Ritz. He had expected something like a roadside motel or perhaps even a small local inn, nothing special, just somewhere to rest their heads for the night that wasn't a bar rooftop. So needless to say when they pulled up to an establishment that hosted a sign that read "fashion boutique" in tacky lettering and boasted a myriad of themed rooms, he was...surprised.
He looked around the room with both skepticism and mild "horror" while a mural of three big-headed green aliens looked right back at him. His cousin had mentioned when they arrived in Japan that she had wanted to take a trip to Tokyo and stay at a dinosaur themed hotel that she'd seen on social media, but this establishment, whatever it was, fell immeasurably short of what he had imagined regarding themed hotels.
"Was this...the only room available?" He asked, still looking around from where he stood just inside the room. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“Well no,” Sayuri began as she strode over to a tall floor lamp and tugged on a dangling star that served as its pull string. Once the lamp was on, it better illuminated the room and revealed the poorly painted solar system on the ceiling. It also revealed the bondage restraints attached to the wall behind the bed. “There was a cowboy room, a safari room- I think there was a beach lagoon or something, but that one was unavailable.” She explained, striding over to the window and pulled on the drapery wand to close the curtains.
“I didn’t think you’d have an opinion between the three, so I just went with aliens.” Sayuri went on to explain. “I know you probably haven’t ever stayed somewhere like this before, I totally hear that. But this is kind of our best option for the night, I wouldn’t have us stay here if it wasn’t.”
"I-" Sasha blinked at the bondage restraints on the wall, his ears warming as he realized just what type of hotel this was. This wasn't just a themed hotel, this was a love hotel. "I, um, I see. I suppose we can't be too picky, can we?" He looked away from the restraints and reached up to rub the back of his neck where a flush had begun to creep. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Sayuri did observe Sasha’s demeanor then, she hadn’t explicitly said what kind of hotel this was, she sort of thought it was obvious. She was originally more embarrassed about the quality of the room, not its intended purpose; she hadn’t expected to do more than sleep anyways. But watching the realization dawn on Sasha in real time brought her a sort of ease. She could see that he was a bit flustered and Sayuri liked how it looked on Sasha. She took the opportunity to get his goat, crossing the room and plopping onto the bed.
“Don’t get any ideas.” She teased him with a playful nudge and a toothy grin.
Sasha's head quickly swiveled towards Sayuri, eyes wide and mouth gawped as he floundered for his words.
"What? I would never!" He said quickly, before realizing how that sounded. "I mean, not never. You're a very beautiful woman, but it-I-it wouldn't be right of me to even suggest it after everything." He sputtered. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Sayuri had to bite her lip to keep from laughing, watching someone as put together as Sasha, flounder helplessly, delighted her. She smiled and sat up on her elbows, nodding along as though she was truly hearing Sasha’s defense.
“So you think I’m beautiful?” She said finally with a pleased grin. She knew that of course, but it was still nice to hear him say it and to use it to tease him further.
Sasha could tell that Sayuri was having a bit of fun a his expense and it made him purse his lips in flustered "annoyance".
"I mean, I'm sure you know how you look and how others, including myself, might perceive your looks." He said, still red in the face as he turned away from Sayuri then. He made his way over to a small table and chair in the corner of the room, the tabletop marked with wide water rings from what he assumed came from an ice bucket. He took his hat and sunglasses off and set them on the table. "Anyways, I promise I won't 'get any ideas'. Like I said, it wouldn't be right of me and I don't want you to get the wrong idea about my intentions." He said, his back still to her. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Sayuri straightened when she observed Sasha getting serious in spite of the redness in his face. It wasn’t as fun to see him like this, so sincere it could hurt. But she liked it still, he wasn’t just being serious flippantly, he was serious about her. It was nice being valued in such a way, and it softened her defenses. It was her turn then to blush, her cheeks pinked and she smiled a little.
“I don’t have any doubts about your integrity, Sasha. I already know you’re not like them.” Sayuri said, and by ‘them’ she of course meant Joe, and the rest of the yakuza that she had been familiar with. She wanted him to understand that she didn’t view him in the same category as them. “What are your intentions?” She asked then, not as a joke. Though Sayuri had a pretty good idea about his intentions, at least that they were nothing nefarious. She already knew that she trusted him, at least as much as he seemed to trust her; that he cared about her safety. She hadn’t forgotten the time he took to tend to her hand with Mio stabbed a fish knife right through the palm. That was only their second time meeting and he was more gentle with her that night than anybody ever had been.
