Kiona took a deep inhale upon walking out of the airport. She was smiling to herself, clutching the straps of her large backpack; she felt so proud. Things back home got so complicated, messy. Saying goodbye to Kent for good was the best thing she could've done for herself, but she had already made so much trouble. The only thing left to do, was to start over completely. Her friends were a little sad, but they understood and encouraged her to do what she felt was best.

Her family was another story, there was lots of crying and coddling, ultimately Kiona did exactly what she had set out to do. She had a little savings and her family donated to her cause a little bit but it wasn't much. That was fine by her though, she had enough to get a cab to a little motel where she would set up for awhile. Getting settled, she took a shower and unpacked what few things she had. It seemed like no contest when she decided to sacrifice more clothes for her guitar.

"I wish I could've brought my violin too..." She uttered to herself, making a face as she ran her hand up the long neck of her guitar. "Oh well, Mom will ship it soon." She shrugged before getting changed and checking herself out in the mirror of the small bathroom.

Kiona was very pretty and she was somewhat aware, though she valued her humor, quick wit and natural talent with side scroller arcade games much more than beauty. She was of average height, a little on the thin side. Her skin was a pale beige with little freckles on her nose. Long inky black curls and bright blue eyes, truly the gem of her family as the only girl. Their weird little warrior princess. She grinned at herself and laughed giddily.

"I'm on my own!" She exclaimed as the realization. She didn't need Kent or anyone else. Spinning on her heels she slipped on her old beat up Chuck Taylors before jogging out the door to explore.

Some people experience jet lag from flying, but Kiona never felt so alive and so awake. She needed to get a feel for the land, what places were near by, who was hiring and how soon could she start.

Jacey Rae Martin was peculiarly unpeculiar and he hated that about himself.

He wasn't gifted and barely made it through his educational career with the help of his parents' tutoring and relentless pressure. He was only ever half-decent at playing the bass, but had no real talent other than that and a knack for flipping pancakes. He wasn't even particularly good looking despite what his mother had always insisted ("aren't you biologically inclined to say these things?". He was just a fairly standard man with fairly standard looks and talent... and he felt like he was simply boring for it all.

He let out a drawn out sigh as he slumped in the front window of a coffee house he frequented for it's closeness to work and his apartment and also because their coffee didn't taste like a shit brew.

He often wondered if his life would ever get more interesting. He sincerely hoped it did.

Kiona practically skipped as she admired her surrounds. She had already put her resume in at an antique shop, and a deli when she stopped in front of a coffee house.

Just like in the movies! She thought to herself before walking in. She wasn't exactly dressed for an interview, she was wearing regular jeans, no holes or tears. Her chucks and an ambiguous Fall Out Boy t shirt, not exactly business casual but it was working out so far in terms of handing out resumes and filling out applications. She smiled at the barista who took her resume and exchanged it for an application. Uttering a 'thank you,' she grabbed a pen and pulled up a vacant seat next to an average gentleman in front of the shops window.

Jacey happened to glance over when he heard someone sit down near him. He blinked, pleasantly surprised, when he saw it was a rather attractive girl, probably just a few years younger than him at best.

And she was wearing a Fall Out Boy Shirt.

The band was fairly popular these days but it never hurt to strike up a casual conversation...but how to do it?

He thought for a moment before beginning to idly hum the tune to America's Suitehearts.

Kiona nodded along happily, smiling and attentive that the stranger next to her was humming along to a song by the band on the shirt she was wearing.

"You could've knocked me out with a feather..." She sang quietly along before lifting her head to look at him, grinning. "I didn't think anyone cared about Folie a duex anymore."

Kiona peeked up from her application, smiling somewhat. Was he trying to hold a conversation? It's only been a couple hours and she was probably making friends! She smiled more broadly then, turning to face him better.

"You're not bothering me at all." She grinned. "Oh lots, Blink 182, Say Anything, Mayday Parade, uh We Are the Ocean...I could go on. I like a lot of music but I can't really get into rap or country." She explained.
