Mishka pursed his lips and glowered at his brother.

"What was that, Mihai?" He asked though he had obviously heard. "I'm doing the best that I can do given that that man tried to maul our mom just a few months ago. Sorry I'm not so keen on getting to know dear old 'uncle Toma'." He said.

Astrid appeared from behind them then, raising her hands up in a 'praising' way.

"Preaching to the choir, sister Mishka, but this isn't about you or even him really, so suck it up, will you?" She said.

Mishka let out a sigh. Though he hated to admit it, he knew his siblings were right.

"I guess I'll try to be civil." He grumbled with an eyeroll.

"It's getting there, Mama!" Astrid called back as she went to the silverware drawer and took out several sets to place on the table. She flagged for Mishka to grab plates, and he did.

"You can bring everyone in, Mama." Mishka added as he set out plates.

Valentina walked into the kitchen, Toma leaning on her for support which she welcomed. Her arm around his waist as she guided him.

“Looks good, guys.” Valentina commented as she helped Toma into a chair.

Rundin came in after the siblings and made his way over to his usual seat.

"What did you make for us tonight, Val?" He asked.

Mishka went back towards the kitchen to start bringing the food out so his mom didn't have to.

Valentina didn’t cook too often, but when she did traditional Romanian dishes were her strength.

Mishka wanted to snap something sharp at his uncle, but cast a glance toward Valentina and refrained. He inhaled through his nose and puffed it back out.

“Only if my mom makes it.” He said. “Otherwise, it’s nwver sweet enough.”
