"I'm still happy you 'proved it' for me." Adrik joked with a grin before rolling onto his side to face Asha.

Adrik had always thought Asha was beautiful, even from the very first time he laid eyes on her as a babe, but there was something that was so wonderfully breathtaking as he looked at her right then. Her face and the curves of her body were all illuminated with the pale golds and blues of the city lights creeping in from the windows in the room. Her skin was dewy from the sweat of their exertions, but that and the flush of her cheeks made her look so full of life.

He had loved this beautiful woman ever since she was just a beautiful girl and he was so blessed to have her at his side. He didn't ever want to let her go.

"Asha, I love you." He said to her.

Adrik smiled, because he always smiled at even the smallest of Asha's affections.

"I love you, and you love me... do you love me enough to marry me?" Adrik asked, no frills like he had imagined, but very earnestly nonetheless.

Asha sat up a little then, on her elbows. Never breaking her gaze on Adrik, she smiled earnestly and gave a slight nod.

“I do, I really do.” She answered biting back her smile to hide how wide it was becoming.

Adrik's eyes lit up with a pleasant surprise. He sat up as well, mirroring Asha on his own elbows.

"Do you mean that?" He asked.

“Why, don’t you?” Asha asked with a laugh. “Yeah, I mean it..I really love you, I’d like to marry you.” She reiterated with sincerity.

"Of course I mean it. I mean..." Adrik paused so he could roll over then to dig into his bedside table, briefly pilfering through the drawer until his fingers brushed up against the velvet box he was looking for. He rolled back over then and showed Asha the box. "I like to think that going out and buying a ring is pretty serious."

Asha blinked briefly with momentary surprise. She never doubted Adrik’s love and affections, or that he wanted to marry her. Even as they were talking about it, she still didn’t expect him to whip out a ring. She took the little velvet box from him but didn’t open it, she rolled onto her back and inspected it carefully and contemplated it’s contents n

“How long have you had this?” She asked, looking up at him.

"I got it a little while after your dad's birthday." Adrik explained, sitting up then. He was admittedly a little nervous when she didn't immediately accept, especially given her previous giddiness regarding the subject of marriage. "Is...is that too soon? Is this too soon?" He asked.

“Oh no, not at all. Or I don’t think so anyways, I would’ve married you then if you had asked me.” Asha waved him off. “Is this you asking me, can I open it? Do you want to open it?” She asked, offering the box back to him.

"It doesn't have to be me asking you if you'd prefer something more extravagant." Adrik said, though he did take the box back to crack it open. As the box opened, an obscenely large diamond ring was revealed. It almost looked vintage with a traditional mine cut diamond, but the radiant silver (not silver) finish on the band as well as the finely cut adorning jewels spoke of it's modernity. Clearly, Adrik had spared no expense. "I've tried to put together a million and one ways to do this proposal, but nothing ever felt quite right. It felt right in this moment...but we can throw a party, go to dinner, whatever you'd like if you want me to ask you again."

“No, no...This is right.It’s perfect.” Asha waved him off quickly. She leaned over him to look at it, it was gorgeous. She’d never thought about what ring she’d want if she were to get married, but this felt like it. It almost felt too beautiful for her, not that she’d ever say it out loud. She dropped down, her head on his shoulder as she looked at it. “It’s beautiful...Ask me again, right now.” She said looking up at him.

Adrik grinned at the response and went to wrap an arm around Asha's shoulders as she sank in close to him. He held the ring out in front of her with his other hand and cleared his throat.

"Asha, will you marry me?" He asked.

Asha smiled widely, nodding eagerly then.

“Yes, I will.” She answered, letting a giddy laugh escape her throat for just a moment, holding her hand out to accept the ring.

Adrik laughed himself and went to take Asha's hand while taking the ring from the box. He delicately placed the ring onto Asha's finger, giving her a moment to admire it further before going to gather her back up into his arms and smothering her in kisses.
