Mila hurried to another room, swiftly yanking one of the wall mounted phones off the hook in passing. The penthouse was spacious, lots of rooms to get lost in if you didn’t know your way around. But Mila took refuge in her parents room, calling the Society’s ‘911’ equivalent as she began boarding her and Hudson up in her parents walk in closet.

Despite the immediate physical differences between Calloway and Nolan, their strength was relatively evenly matched. For every swipe, there was a doge, for every nick, there was a scratch given back. While the twosome sliced, threw, and assaulted one another, and while Mila placed her call to the Society, someone else came into the scene.

Adrik and Sasha Nikitin had both come barreling into the penthouse when they caught the smell of blood and heard the general ruckus when they got off the elevator on their floor. Both of them were frantically calling Mila’s name as they stepped over the two bodyguards’ bodies.

“Mila, where are you?” Sasha called, gun already drawn.

“Daddy! Sasha! Go help Calloway!” Mila yelled from the bedroom upon hearing her family enter the scene. While help was on the way, Mila didn’t want any resources wasted that could help Calloway.

Sasha hesitated, but ultimately obeyed and rushed to Calloway’s aid. As soon as he entered and saw the two brothers grappling, he raised his gun and shot at Nolan’s back, narrowly missing him as he jerked out of the way. Adrik came in next, however, he immediately entered the fray, his face and hands totally wolfen and feral as he reached to separate the two boys. He looked at the both of them, snarling, before tossing Calloway aside so he could properly heft up Nolan.

“You come....into my house...attack my family...” Adrik managed between snarls. He smacked his fangs at the other man. “He...should have killed you...before.”

Nolan violently thrashed in Adrik’s graso, though there wasn’t a hint of fear in his expression.

Mila could hear her Father in the other room, she wanted to rush in and steal Cal away from the scene but knew she needed to protect Hudson. With help from the Society on the way, she squinted her eyes shut and hugged Hudson tight and hoped everything would be over soon.

Sasha went over to Cal and dragged him back and away from immediate danger before hauling him upright. Calloway leaned heavily on his brother-in-law, waiting to see now what would happen.

“I...don’t like eating...people, but...for my daughter...I will.” Adrik snarled, opening his maw to show off his pointed incisors, however it wasn’t anything Nolan said or did to make him pause, instead it was a small sound from Calloway. He glanced back just enough to see Calloway bracing himself.

He was ready to kill Nolan to protect his wife and son, but he clearly did not want the altercation to end this way.

Adrik let out a low rumble and looked back to Nolan.

“Next time...I will not hesitate...this time...I let the...Society have you.” Adrik snarled, esta twitching when he heard the telltale sound of sirens down on the street below.

Mila could hear the sirens now, as though sensing his mother’s relief, Hudson’s cries began to die down. Though he still rooted at her chest for comfort and Mila let him, petting the back of his head gently. She would wait until someone came for her before rushing out, so she knew it was safe.

At the sound of footsteps thundering down the hall, Adrik carried Nolan out into the living room to meet his arresting officers.

Meanwhile, Sasha helped Calloway hobble out of the room, disoriented and wounded. Cal spared his brother one last look as two men approached him and Adrik and slapped restraints on him. Nolan glared at his brother, continuing to do so even as Calloway looked away and towards the door to the other room.

“Mila?” He called.

“Cal!” Mila called back, hearing Calloway come down the hall. She’d pulled on one of her dads shirts while she was in the closet, with baby Hudson in tow, she flung the door open to meet Calloway. She wanted to throw herself at him, but stopped short observing his many wounds with a quivering lip and tears bubbling in her eyes.

Calloway let go of Sasha to meet Mila and when she stopped short, he went the rest of the way. He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into his good shoulder.

“Are you alright?” He asked, his words muffled in her hair.

Mila nodded, sniveling into his shoulder. With her free arm, she hugged into him tightly.

“You’re hurt, we need to get you help.” She sniffed.

“I know, but it’s not as bad as it looks.” Cal said, though he wasn’t fooling anyone.

“I’m sure our driver still hasn’t even left the building, let’s just get you to a doctor.” Sasha urged. “Dad can handle things here. Mila go grab Hudson’s bag, unless you wanted to stay here?”

“No, we’ll go. Go ahead and get in the car, we’ll leave right away.” Mila nodded, petting at Calloway’s face gently.

“I can grab his bag.” Calloway attempted, only to be grabbed by Adrik at his good shoulder. “Let Sasha take you to the car. I’ll bring Mila and Hudson down before I start talking with everyone here.”
