"Alright..." Roxanne agreed, but the other way made her more uneasy than the high traffic area. Still she submitted, and turned with Jer to go the other way.

At some point, Jer sensed the unease about Roxanne and opted to tuck her under his arm instead, holding her close to his side as they made their way through the dense woodland. He had hoped he himself would find some ease off the high traffic path, but something still nagged at him. He still felt as if they were being observed, like they were being followed.

Roxanne felt a little safer, traveling under Jer's arm but something still felt wrong.

"Jer...Jer, something's not right." She exclaimed.

"We just have to keep moving, mon amour." Jer insisted, trying to urge them along faster, but that's when he began to hear it. The rustling that he had previously thought was just the wind was clearly hastening footsteps.

"Do you hear that?" Roxanne asked, even though she knew he could. "What's happening?" She exclaimed, frightened now, as the sounds began to enclose them.

"Roxanne, we have to go, we have to run!" Jer insisted, urging her faster then as the footsteps drew nearer and nearer still.

Roxanne was truly frightened. She was not a fighter, not a killer or a criminal; she scared easy and right now was no different. She still tried to hurry at Jer's side, but her cowardice was slowing her down.

There was a series of whistles coming from behind the couple, signal whistles so to speak, along with wolfish growling and other unworldly sounds. Jer tried to urge Roxanne forward, but as she slowed, he released her and turned to face their stalkers with snarled teeth and a burning desire to protect Roxanne at all costs. However, before he could attack anyone or anything there was a loud crack and the whizzing of a bullet as it launched at Jer, striking him in the shoulder and earning a yelp.

Roxanne shrieked, ducking briefly but stopped upon hearing Jer get struck. She didn't know what to do, she grabbed onto Jer and did her best to be a shield for whirring bullets. But she was already so petite, she wasn't covering anyone. Helpless she began to weep, looking all around for their attackers.

"Stop! Please, stop!" She yelled.

Jer turned to try and shield Roxanne instead, though it didn't seem that it mattered much as there were no further shots fired.

"Don't shoot! Don't hurt her!" Jer pleased still, however.

"W-who's there? What's going on?" Roxanne called, unable to see anyone still. "We were just passing through..." She tried to explain.

There was a quiet murmuring of words before someone spoke up in French.

"We are here for Jeraud. He's under arrest for the crimes committed against humanity." A women said as a whole group of people came forward, several with guns still drawn.

A tall man was at the forefront of the group with a mess of dark hair and piercing eyes. He was broad unlike the rest of the men in his group, something about him very sturdy.

He spoke up in English, though Jer couldn't understand it until the woman translated for him.

"I'm speaking on behalf of Rundin Dalca. He is the one who petitioned for this arrest and he is quite irritated it took him so long to find Jeraud and his friends." The woman said.

"Crimes against humanity...? Arrest? I do not understand." Roxanne muttered, shaking her head before looking to Jer. "What is she talking about?"

Jer, though clearly grimacing in pain, appeared to bear a look of guilt as well as he turned his head away from Roxanne.

"I'm sorry....I'm sorry, mon amour." He said quietly.
