Alexei wanted to kiss her so badly, he thought he might burst if he didn't. But still he refrained as he held her face in his hands.

"I do, Polina. You're very precious to me, my жемчуг." He began, still looking at her adoringly. "How do you feel about me?" He asked her then.

Polina's eyes practically gleamed like the pearl Alexei compared her to as she looked up at him. It wasn't surprising to hear him refer to her as something precious to him, but it still made Polina's heart leap and her cheeks warm under both of their palms. She basked in that feeling for a moment, content under his adoring gaze, before she came back to herself.

"How do I feel about you?" She repeated before letting out a thoughtful little hum. "I suppose...not much different than you feel about me." She smiled softly, clearly bashful to speak the words aloud but not embarrassed by their message. "I like you a lot too, Alexei."

“Would you like it? Me being your boyfriend?” Alexei asked her then. Boyfriend felt like an understatement for what Alexei wanted with Polina. But he would be happy to be anything at all to her.

“Is it ok?” Alexei laughed a little before leaning in and pressing his forehead to hers. “It’s more than okay. Polina, can I please be your boyfriend?”

Polina let out a giddy laugh as her eyes went almost cross as she tried to maintain Alexei’s gaze even in the new closeness. Her nose bumped softly against his.

“I’d like that. I’ve never dated anyone so I might not be good at it, but…I’d like to try with you. If that’s really okay.” She said, smiling perhaps the biggest she’d smiled in a long time, certainly the biggest she had in front of Alexei.

Alexei continued to smile before tilting his chin up to place a little kiss on his forehead. He pulled away then, beaming and gazing at her adoringly.

“I’ve never been a boyfriend before, I was waiting for you.” He said. “But I promise, I will be good to you always.”

“I already know that.” Polina said, laughter lilting her words.

There was a beat between them before Polina pulled her hands out from under Alexei’s grasp, only to place her palms softly atop his cheeks. She smiled still as she ran her thumbs over the apples of his cheeks.

“I’ll try hard to be good to you too.” She said.

It was Alexei’s turn to flush, his cheeks turning a gentle pink under Polina’s hands. He wasn’t embarrassed at all though, or shy. He was excited to be touched by Polina, he wanted to be touched by her more. He wanted to gather her up in his arms and smother her with kisses until their lips were bruised. He wanted to do more than kiss, he wanted to feel those parts of her that were hidden behind her cardigans and modest dresses. But being good to her meant not rushing her, not taking advantage of her.

“You’re already good to me.” He said simply, quietly. He reached up again with a hand to place atop one of hers as it cupped his cheek. His fingers curling around her palm, refraining from using it to pull her into him.

“But I want to do even better by you.” Polina said, closing her eyes and daring to brush their noses again, her lips a hairsbreadth away from his.

Alexei could feel Polina’s breath on his lips, it was intoxicating. He couldn’t help but release a shuddering breath. He could feel the hairs on the back of his neck and arms raise up in attention, in excitement.

“Polina…” He exhaled, weakening under the weight of his own self restraint that was thinning in each passing moment. His hand snaked down her arm then, fingers grazing her neck and dancing over her cheek. His hand went into her hair, fingers knotted in the flaxen strands of hair. “I want to kiss you.” He admitted somewhat breathlessly, a lighter and more subtle admission to all the other things he wanted to do.

Polina had never been in a situation like this, one where someone wanted her and that want, that desire, was reciprocated. And yet, here she was, suddenly dizzy with the feeling as Alexei grasped the back of her neck, his touch scorching hot on her skin. His mouth was so close to hers that she could feel his shuddering breaths, which in turn made her own breathing hitch with excitement.

"I...okay." She said, her own words coming out breathless suddenly.

Alexei wanted to ask her permission once more, just to know she truly felt safe and comfortable. But he could not gather the restraint, his free hand found it's way to her waist and he pulled her flush to him then, closing any remaining gap. The other hand still cupping her neck, tilted her face up to his. Alexei hesitated only a moment, breathing her in before pressing his lips into hers. He savored the feeling, but was eager to feel it again, and again. He pulled away only slightly, the brush of his lips achingly close to hers. But he looked up at her, both pleadingly and for her approval. He wanted to kiss her again, with more vigor, deeper; he wanted to do a lot of things.

"May I...?" Alexei uttered quietly, his voice was dark and husky. He hoped Polina would nod in approval and he'd take her lips again. He was still impossibly close, his hands still cupping her neck as well as the small of her back. He wished to be this close always, closer if at all possible. Just one kiss and he was drunk from it.

The moment Alexei's mouth connected with Polina's, she felt a pleasant buzz starting at her lips that seemed to move through her until she could feel it in even in the tips of her fingers and toes. This first kiss was chaste, Polina had seen enough movies to know what a proper kiss looked like, but it still made her skin pebble and made her stomach go warm and floppy. If this was what a simple peck was light, she couldn't help but wonder what something more would feel like.

Alexei pulled away and Polina felt a shiver ripple through her when he spoke to her, his eyes pleading for more. She let out a shuddered little breath, moving her arms then to loop them around the back of Alexei's neck all the while maintaining their closeness.

"A-again." She breathed.

Alexei let a little breath, a little laugh; she felt it too, that was his confirmation. He didn’t waste another minute before he caught her lips again, his mouth moved against hers, he nipped at her bottom lip. His own breath urging her to part her lips for him. His hands gripped at the shape of her, eager and need but with some control. He tried to not hold her too tight, or move too fast. Every movement was hungry and intentional but with consideration for her. Alexei had kissed lots of people before, but kissing never felt like this, he had never been excited this way. His heart thrummed hard and fast in his chest, beating against hers as he held her. Even though Polina didn’t have supernatural hearing, he was sure he could hear the pounding under his sternum. He wanted her to, he hoped to let her feel all parts of him someday.
