It wasn't hard to miss Xander as he was the only one in the classroom besides "Teacher Lynette" as all the other kids having gone outside for recess. The young woman was crouched in front of the little teary boy, trying to console him to no avail as he continued to hiccup and cry.

"Xander, your parents will be here soon, so let's just try to take a breath and see if we can stop crying, hmm?" Lynette attempted. She reached out to brush away Xander's tears with a tissue, but he promptly reeled back and began crying even harder.

"N-n-hic-nooooo!" He screeched.

“Bébé!” Roxanne sort of gasped and exclaimed. She rushed to Canders side, immediately crouching down to his level. “I’m here now, baby. What’s wrong?” She crooned, reaching to pet his hair.

As soon as Roxanne was in front of him, Xander practically flung himself at her. Of course, Jer had told him he had to be very careful since Roxanne was making a baby sibling for him and that required a lot of her, Xander could not, in this moment help himself. He nestled into her, still simpering as he wrapped his arms around her neck, his hands squabbling to hold on, and as soon as his palms pressed flush to her skin, all his sadness and frustration quickly left him and projected outward onto Roxanne.

The frustration of a little boy whose older brothers picked on him despite him wanting to be big and play just like them, the sadness of a little girl whose mother had gone away without any explanation known to her, other complex and unchecked emotions from other children all rushing out of Xander just as fast as they'd filled him up before.

Roxanne was overcome then, with a multitude of emotions; defeat, frustration, imense sadness and confusion. Roxanne felt her eyes start to well up, on the verge of tears now herself. She choked back a sob that came upon her suddenly and took a deep breath. Why did she feel this way?

She just held on tight to Xander, he needed her and she could sense that. And that was more important than what was happening to her.

“I’m sorry for the trouble Lynette, I’ll be taking Xander home now.” Roxanne breathed after a moment. She continued to hold Xander, carefully scooping her arm under him to support him as she stood up and carried him.

Xander sniveled, though his sobbing had stopped. He rested his head on Roxanne's shoulder and allowed himself to close his weary eyes.

"Of course. We hope that he feels better soon." Lynette said as she quickly bent to grab Xander's backpack she'd previously gotten for him after calling Jer. "Bye bye, Xander. We'll see you soon, okay? Feel better." She said sympathetically as she handed over the bag.

"Bye." Xander sniffed.

Roxanne took Xander’s bag and held him close all the way home. Roxanne has a natural instinct to mother, she was soft and nurturing. Knowing and feeling the residual emotions off of her son, all she knew to do was hold him tight and remind him he wasn’t alone. She pet his hair and kissed his temple, rubbed his back. Once they were home Roxanne was careful loading him into the house, she dropped his bag carefully by the door before easing them both into the couch.

Xander had quietly sniffled all his tears away the ride home and was now just red cheeked and puffy eyed from it all as he sat comfortably in his mother's arms. He never felt anything but comfort and warmth as Roxanne held him, she always made him safe and loved, which wasn't to say that he didn't feel the same with Jer, but there were times when Xander would feel a great sadness and guilt he couldn't explain (what with being only four) when Jer held him like this.

He sniffed once more and peaked up at Roxanne, his little brows twisting with a bit of his own guilt at having inconvenienced Roxanne when he knew she was to be resting.

"Je suis désolé, Mama." He said to her.

Roxanne crooned, and continued to pet his hair.

“No no, bébé. Il n'est pas nécessaire de s'excuser” Roxanne cooed. “Are you feeling better now?” She asked then.

“Can you tell me what happened?” Roxanne asked.

Xander jutted a lip and looked away. His fingers grabbed at the bottom of his shirt, wringing the fabric as he gave a little shrug.

"I don't know...I was playing cars and horses with everyone and then...I got real sad, Mama." He explained.

“Okay, that’s okay. Did anyone hurt you?” She asked, trying to understand.

"No...I don't think so." Xander said, unsure because it had FELT like someone had in some ways, but he couldn't remember anything happening. "I just got...confused...sad...angry...a lot of things."

“Okay, well, I’m happy and relieved you’re feeling better now. Will you tell me, or tell a teacher to tell me the next time you’re feeling like that?” Roxanne asked.

Xander bobbed his head, hands still wringing.

"Will Papa be upset? He said you need rest because of baby and then you had to come get me." He said.
