Grey flushed slightly but only because she was in the presence of their parents, otherwise she was pretty used to it.

"Currently I'm tutoring children in musical instruments, but I'm actually graduating early this year so I'm looking forward to actually getting placed in a school so I can teach on that level." Grey explained. "I'll miss the kids I teach now though." She added with a light shrug.

She made a little over minimum wage since the kids she taught were, well, their parents were well off. At four kids, eight hour days; she did pretty good, brought home some butter for the bread.

"Hmm, well, that's nice. I suppose." Grace said before going serve up Emerson's plate, then Benjamin's and Grey's. "So...what did you want to tell us?" SHe asked, glancing up at the two of them.

Grey gave a sidelong glance at Emerson, kind of hoping he'd lead the charge. There was a moment when she contemplated 'going to the restroom,' and just escaping through the bathroom window. But climbing through windows probably wasn't good for the baby?

Emerson, having read his mother's lips, he glanced over to Grey, giving a little smile of excitement and assurance.

"Well...it's exciting news. Happy news." Emerson signed, enthusiastic.

Grace took a breath, as if trying to prepare herself for the news she had already come to expect. She supposed she could try to be happy for her son...for the time being.

"Alright, and what's the news?" She asked.

Emerson turned to Grey, giving her a slight nudge, a cue of sorts for her to produce the sonogram pictures they had gotten at their last appointment. He wanted to bring them to show off to his parents (Irving, of course, had already seen them).

Grey let out a small exhale through her nose, she put on her brave face before digging into her bag and producing four small sonogram printouts. He, she, it was very small. Probably around the size of a snow pea but obviously, given the context of the situation, was a human zygote. She placed them on the center of the table, towards Grace as she squeezed Emerson's hand under the table.

Grace's eyes widened, instantly mortified by the presentation. Meanwhile, Benjamin cocked a brow, hardly realizing what was being shown to them, and he proceeded to grab up the sonogram pictures and look.

"What's this?" He asked.

"A baby....our baby." Emerson signed, smiling, though it began to falter as he watched his mother's face and only found negativity.

Grey tensed up and held her breath, still, she squeezed Emerson's hand for reassurance. This wasn't going to be a positive experience in terms of how dinners go, but she couldn't abandon Emerson.

"A baby? You two are having a baby?" Grace sputtered.

Her expression and reaction made Emerson's face fall.

"Yeah...we are. We're...happy though." He said.

Grey's brows furrowed, seeing Emerson's face change. She didn't really know what to say, nothing she would say could change Grace's reaction. But she wanted to show her support somehow.

"It was...A surprise, for the both of us. But we are happy, babies are blessings and ours is going to have a great home." Grey said with a slight nod.

"A great home? I...how can you two even expect to take care of a baby? Emerson can hardly take care of himself!" Grace scoffed, earning a wounded look from Emerson.

"Mother." Irving hissed.

Grey made a face then, she was beginning to understand now why there was some bad blood with the boys and Grace.

"I'm sorry, things must've been really different when he lived here, because he's been doing great on his own." Grey said then, feeling protective of Emerson then.
