When Mishka had opted to take up the roll of trainee officer for the Society, there were many whispers that he'd certainly be given rank due to his father's founding position in the Society. They assumed he'd get the best job, the best pay, the best position right off the bat.

They were mistaken.

Mishka was taking up a job with an older officer, Frank Haussen, to pick up something from a little podunk town in the backwaters of New York. It was nothing glamorous, nothing risky, just a job and a two hour car drive out of the city. Mishka was grateful enough that while Frank went to pick up whatever it was they were picking up, he was tasked with finding a place to grab lunch, which was actually a hard enough job given there weren't many places to eat.

He walked aimlessly down the small "main street" in search of somewhere to eat, hoping he didn't look too conspicuous with his uniform on.

Lua wasn’t ‘in town’ too often, considering the family home was still a good drive from any civilization. She also wasn’t much of a people person, or a person person. She was regarded as...quirky, or just weird. Lua was basically a feral woman, spending more time in the woods as an animal than in populated areas as a human woman. But Lua loved her father dearly and would do anything for him, including traveling to town and picking up various supplies for his office.

She had just finished, stepping out of a shop on ‘Main Street,’ with a large paper bag full of goods. Naturally she was wearing one of her four thin dresses, dirty with several tears, stitches and patches. No footwear, even considering the heat. Her feet long since evolved and callused to endure walking on hot pavement.

Mishka was looking in the window of a little general store, looking out for a deli, when he caught a familiar reflection walking behind him on the sidewalk. He blinked and turned to see Lua Castillo briskly walking passed, looking as peculiar as always.

"Lua?" He called out to her.

Lua paused, looking back and seeing who it was. She smiled and freed a hand to wave a little before walking to meet him.

“Mishka, what are you doing out here?” She asked before looking him up in down. “Fancy pants, what’s with this get up now?” She followed up.

"These old duds?" Mishka lifted his arms and gave a little "show" of his uniform. "I'm out here for a job. I started training for an officer's position with the Society." He explained.

“Oh neat. Hopefully your bike won’t collect too much dust.” Lua teased, though it was hard to tell when Lua was joking. Her expression rarely changed much, and she often looked serious.

"It won't. I still go out for bike rides enough." Mishka explained. "What are you doing here? Is this close to your place?" He asked.

“Uh no. But it’s the closes place to my place. My Dad needed stuff so I volunteered to run the errand.” Lua explained.

"Oh, well, do you need a ride or something?" Mishka asked, more than willing to abandon the task given to him by Frank.

“No, I’m happy to walk. Prefer it actually..but uh, were you looking for something? You were looking in that window weren’t you?” She asked.

“Oh, yeah. I’m supposed to be finding a place to grab lunch for me and my coworker.” Mishka nodded and glanced back toward the store. “Didn’t look like there was a broad selection in town.”

“Ah no, there’s a cafe only open for breakfast and a place near the lake that’s mostly fish.” Lua explained. “I think there’s a little diner farther out, outskirts of here. You might’ve passed on your way here if you came by car.”

“Oh. Maybe.” Mishka nodded before a light blush tickled at his cheeks. “Whereeee do you usually like to go?”

“Yeah? If you’re not super busy, do you think you could show me? I could buy you lunch as thanks.” Mishka then blushed and cleared his throat. “Orlikealunchdate.” He muttered bashfully.
