"Oh, I'm still staying." Irving said, looking slightly pale from just the mere thought of all the baby goop to come.

Emerson rushed over, taking up his position. He held Grey's leg up with one hand and reached out for her hand with the other.

"I here." He said to her, nodding vigorously and smiling at her.

It didn't take terribly long. Five minutes did feel like an hour probably for Irving, who was being relentlessly scolded by nurses to hold Grey's leg up higher. But one final push brought their little babe into the world.

"Congratulations, it's a boy!" The nurse called, clamping the cord.

They did their best to wash the little baby swiftly, weighing and measuring him quickly before placing the baby boy onto Grey's chest. Grey of course, was happily weeping as she peered down at their son. He was still pale and somewhat discolored as most newborns are and his cries were more like squawks. It was too early to say who he looked like or what he looked like at all, but he did have a thin little tuft, or orange hair atop his head, a possible gift from his Mother.

Irving nearly collapsed with relief as the baby was born while Emerson was bountiful with absolute joy and excitement. He beamed proudly from ear to ear, giddy tears welling up in his eyes as he looked at the baby in absolute awe and admiration.

"Gwey yoo did gewd." He managed between happy little chuckles. He reached out to gently stroke at the baby's little foot. "Fawx." He crooned.

Things were beginning to settle and Grey was being moved from the labor suite into her own room. She cradled little Fox as she was getting pushed in her wheelchair to the next room, completely full of bliss.

"Oh miss, your Mother is waiting to see you. Should we send her in?" The nurse asked as she pulled Grey up beside her new bed.

"My what?" Grey asked, eyes squinting at the nurse before looking back to Emerson. "My Mom's here?" She repeated to him.

"I went to talk to them today instead of going to work. I wanted everything to be made right before Fox got here. When you went into labor, they flew us all down so I'd make it in time." Emerson explained in sign. "They want to make things right too."

"Oh.." Grey paused thoughtfully before looking back to Emerson. "And they were nice to you?" She questioned.

Emerson nodded firmly and gave a thumbs up even.

"Your mom apologized, we talked a little, they were nice." He said.

"Okay..." Grey replied with skepticism. "You can send her up." She agreed, climbing into bed with Fox.

Emerson helped Grey get situated, unable to NOT dote on her and their fresh baked potato. Once he helped get her all tucked in he sat down at the bedside and signed at her, "It's going to be good." He seemed certain.

Marnie came up and it went well. She apologized to Grey in person before doting on her new grandson and singing her praises about Emerson, how courageous it was of him to travel all that way to make the first move. But, Grey was very tired and they needed alone time with Fox now, saying her goodbyes, Marnie left to meet them at their house later so Alister could meet Fox then.
