“Uh sure, just give me like...two minutes.” Lucinda called, per the instructions, it would take at more two minutes for a clear reading.

JJ's lips pursed into a frown, but made a noise of assent. He could wait for two minutes.

"Just hurry in." He told her.

It wouldn’t take the full two minutes though, when you’re pregnant you’re pregnant, and the pee stick will know right away. Sure enough, eighteen years later with a teenager already, Lucinda was pregnant again. Lucinda exhaled through her nose, of course it was a surprise and unplanned, just like Manon. It was a bit annoying that she had rebutted all of JJ’s advances regarding having more children only to still wind up pregnant somehow. But, underneath her light annoyance, there was joy. JJ was a great father, and Manon was the perfect child. Doing it a second time would be as joyful as the first and JJ was sure to be over the moon about it.

But she wouldn’t make it that easy for him.

She flushed and discarded the pee stick before undressing and letting down her hair. It was flat ironed for the day but was certain to return to its natural curls post shower. She fluffed her hair to loosen some of the product before stepping into the shower.

“No funny stuff, sir. I’m mad at you.” She announced upon entry.

JJ's face pinched up in confusion as Lucinda entered the shower.

"What? Why?" He asked, trying to recall if he'd done anything before either of them had left for work that morning. He'd gotten her flowers delivered to the house, he even went to the little coffee and bakery place down the street from their house to get their usual breakfast treats, not to mention the entire week he'd spent planning their little getaway.

He grabbed at Lucinda's waist to try and turn her to look at him.

"Why are you mad at me?" He asked.

“Like you don’t know, don’t play dumb.” Lucinda continued the ruse, face scrunched in disappointment as she turned away from him with a phony pout.

"What? I don't know! Lu, c'mon, just tell me. Why are you mad? What did I do?" JJ asked as he craned his neck around to try and look at Lucinda's face, noting the "disappointment" she wore.

“I’ve told you a hundred times that Manon was going to be an only child, and yet, I’m pregnant again. Explain that, mister?” Lucinda scolded, maintain the facade she was actually upset.

"Wait...what?" JJ sputtered a bit as he took in Lucinda's words. While his own joy was quick to come and overwhelming, Lucinda looked upset still. "Lu, what? Are you really mad? Don't be mad, Lu." He said, reaching to fuss at her face then.

Lucinda laughed then, dropping the act and splashing some of the water from the shower at him.

“No I’m not mad! I’m just playing with you. But I am really pregnant so, happy anniversary!” She laughed.

JJ let out a huff of relief and then laughed a little. He shook his head and went to pull Lucinda into a soggy embrace.

"You're such a monster." He laughed. "You're really pregnant? Really really?" He asked as he pulled away, clearly allowing himself to get excited then.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t resist.” Lucinda chuckled, allowing herself to be swept up. “I am, I literally just took the test before I came in.” She explained.

"How long have you thought you might be pregnant? Just recent? Awhile?" JJ asked before letting out another little chuckle. "It doesn't matter. I'm so happy, Lu. This is probably the best anniversary gift you've given me, even if you were a total brat with your prank." He grinned at her.

“Hey, you did it to me remember! With the house and your proposal, you need!” Lucinda laughed, pausing to reach up and kiss him then. “It was just today, you’re the first to know.” She chuckled.

"You made me think you were mad about being pregnant! I wouldn't have known what to do if you were!" JJ laughed in between the kissing. "I guess I'll have to save that bottle of wine I had them reserve for us at the restaurant. And you can't have any raw fish or anything. Should we make a change of plans? For you and our new bebe?"
