“When I went to the doctors earlier, they gave me the green light and gave me a few things they prescribe for women when they start in vitro. I’ll be extra fertile.” Claire said.

It'd been a couple of months since Claire and Clover decided they wanted to try for a baby. Being that Clover was technically of the "undead" variety, they had to go the less conventional route of IVF with some of Clover's reserved baby gravy (thanks, Violet). The fertility specialists who'd helped them had warned Claire and Clover that sometimes these sorts of things didn't happen right away, or at all, so, if anything, they needed to be patient, which was something Claire was terrible at.

But thankfully, she didn't have to keep at patience for very long.

After two months after their first round of IVF, Claire found herself testing positive for Baby Khiev. She didn't immediately want to tell Clover, she wanted to surprise him (though, aren't all babies surprises?), so she asked him to call his mom to set up family dinner. Despite it being early, she decided she'd announce her pregnancy there for all of them.

So, there was Claire, getting ready for the aforementioned dinner date with the family. She wasn't showing yet by any means, but she definitely felt different and felt like she had that "glow" some women spoke of.

"Clove, are you almost ready?" She called from her perch in front of her vanity.

The twosome had moved in together since they decided to try and start their family. The apartment was still, admittedly, a bit of a mess. Claire did her best to restore the former bachelor pad, so it was definitely looking a little more welcoming, but the furniture, a mishmash of both their things, made it look chaotic. Her vanity, a fancy little number she bought with her first paycheck from the bodega when she started working there, looked out of place in the otherwise "lived in" bedroom.

“Yup! Zipped my fly and everything.” Clover always semi dressed up for dinner with his family, which usually meant a button up with some kind of print, a jean and maybe a pair of shoes he didn’t wear often. Tonight it was a pink, short sleeved button up that had avocados on it, a khaki pant and some back slip on vans. His hair was cut not too long ago so his curls were untamed, flipping out here and there.

He squeezed by some unpacked boxes to find Claire at her vanity.

“Wow, you look nice.” He cooed.

"I always look nice." Claire joked with a tongue poked out playfully at Clover. Though, in truth, she did look nice in a modest summer dress printed with tree palms over a yellow background. Her own curly mop of hair was pulled up into a high bun and was pinned with a few little flower bobby pins. As always, the outfit was accessorized with large hoop earrings and simple golden necklace to match. "And look at yoooou!" She chirped at him, getting up to give him a good up and down. "Your mom did so good when she made you."

“She doesn’t think so.” Clover laughed. “Oh, I texted Bloss and she said Ricky’s already there.” He added.

"Then we should hurry up and get there. I don't want them to look better than us by us showing up late." Claire said, shuffling off quickly to grab the sandals she wanted to wear with the outfit. Once she slipped them on, she went back over to Clover, reaching to grab his arm. "Shall we?"

“Let’s go.” Clover agreed, leading their way out of the post move in mess and out the door.

After a short trip via cab, the twosome made it to Clover's parents' building. As they headed up to the apartment, she stretched over and floofed his hair a bit.

"You should have let me fix it for you before we came." She said.

“Is it that bad?” Clover asked, bending down a little so she had better access.

"No, but I could have tamed it a bit." Claire said, licking her fingers a bit before reaching up again to smooth out the end of one of Clover's curl clusters. "God help our kid whenever we have one. They're going to have the most ridiculous hair."

“At least both their parents have curly hair. My mom just kept mine buzzed til we came to America. Nobody in my family has curly hair but me.” He explained.

“We’re going to have the most hair products in the house, the most in the neighborhood.” Claire joked, stopping her fussing then.

“Forget about saving for their college, we’ll have to save for their hair care.” Clover laughed before the door swung open. It was of course, Blossom, clad in her signature white workout pants and cutoff sweatshirt. Her arms crossed over her chest as she looked at the twosome.

“I thought Claire moving in meant you had someone to keep you on time.” She said.
