“Oh gosh, I don’t know!” Navrik laughed giddily. He wasn’t allowed to marry under Natas, and Havania’s parents were gone, so he’d never had to ask himself. Not that he gathered he was confident or articulate enough to do so. “I mean, of course! Absolutely you have my blessing, Asha couldn’t find someone better for her than you.” He chirped.

“How exciting! Have you picked a ring? When will you ask her?” He blurt then. In spite of not being allowed to date or marry or fall in love before Havania, Navrik was absolutely a romantic. Which could be a given, as he built a house for the love of his life.

"I have a ring in mind. I will spare no expense and made sure to get one that was as pretty as could be expected for Asha." Adrik grinned, eager to share this information with someone as excited as Navrik was. "I wanted to ask her as soon as possible for the sake of wedding planning. I always imagined a fall wedding."

“You know I think she had too, but she always talked about a destination wedding? I think that’s what they’re called? I can’t wait to see it! Do you know how you’re going to ask?” Navrik continued.

"I thought about renting out our favorite restaurant for an evening, or maybe asking about the chef's table experience. Maybe I'll have her apartment filled with flowers while we're out and surprise her that way." Adrik babbled on. "What did you do for Asha's mom?"

“Ah well, I brought her here. She was pregnant with Asha, I thought showing her the future I saw for us was the best kind of proposal. But it’s the only one I’ve ever made, so maybe I’m not the one to ask.” Navrik laughed a little. “The flowers sound nice, she would never expect that.” He nodded.

"Would it be overkill if I did something like that? I mean, we'd have to move in together once we were married. Should I start having an apartment customized? Maybe fill that with flowers." Adrik pursed his lips thoughtfully.

“I think that’d be perfect.” Navrik smiled earnestly. “You could ask her mom for a second opinion, but I think it’s great.”

Some time had passed since Adrik asked Navrik for Asha's hand in marriage, and while he was completely intent on popping the question, life as a mob boss certainly had the habit of getting in the way. Adrik had planned and arranged several different occasions in which he planned to propose, but nothing seemed to pan out like he wanted so he often backed out of the task, saving the shiny little ring in his pocket for another day.

But then work called him away to the mother country. With the death of an old leader of a rival syndicate, things had been shaken up and Adrik and his siblings had jetted out to Moscow to confer with other bosses of the Russian mob their family was affiliated with. Adrik had assured Asha it would only be a few days, but a few days turned into a week, which turned into a few weeks, which turned into nearly a month, but finally, after what felt like hundreds of hours of talk and too much liquor, Adrik and the rest of his siblings were finally allowed to return home.

Adrik had called Asha to tell her the news and, as they had both been missing each other something terrible, she told him she'd meet him at his apartment, which was where he was finally heading much to his pleasure.

Adrik didn't want to bother waiting for one of their lackeys to come pick them up, so he opted to take a cab, a decision he was grateful for when he got several spiteful texts from his sisters saying that they ought to fire whoever was charged with picking them up as they had yet to actually be picked up. He paid the cabbie when they pulled up to his building and he happily collected his own bags and carried them into the building.

As he rode up the elevator, he was hopeful Asha would already be there waiting for him. He didn't think he could stand to be away from her another moment.

Asha had never cared for someone before the way she cared for Adrik, if a significant other was missing at her side it was often for the best. As she would probably find them a nuisance or in her way somehow. But with Adrik she missed hims sorely when he was away, even if it was just for the day. So it was to be expected that him being gone for work took it’s toll. At work she and with her family she was more bratty and pouty than the normal amount. She’d gone over to his place to get his mail and water his plants, but she’d find herself taking naps in his shirts in his bed because it smelled like him.

So when she’d finally got the call he was on his way home she wasted no time leaving for his apartment. It was a little bit late, she was actually dressed down for the day in some lounge pants and a fuzzy sweatshirt. Her hair that was normally styled and down, was pulled up and out of her face, and she had already taken off her makeup. Not that Adrik hadn’t ever seen her outside of her expensive day to day looks, but she’d hope to be done up and especially pretty for his return. However, the urgency to see him at all beat the need to be admired. She’d arrived before Adrik, hastily tossing her sloppily packed overnight bag into the bedroom before kicking off her shoes and plopping onto the couch.

Adrik paused at the door to fish for his keys, but was already smiling when he caught the faintest hints of Asha's normal perfume lingering in the air at the doorway. He opened up the door and immediately dropped his bag in the entryway before heading further into the apartment where he found Asha already on the couch. His entire face lit up.

"Honey, I'm home."

“It’s about time,” Asha began with a smile, opening her arms up and beckoning him to her. “I was begging to think you were avoiding me.”

Adrik immediately took the invitation and went to the couch where he sank to his knees in front of Asha and reached out to gather his arms around her waist. He pulled her to him and immediately stretched for a kiss.

"I could never. I've been wishing I was home this entire time." He uttered into the affection.

“Hm, if I was a clingy kind of girlfriend, I’d ask you to never leave me again.” She uttered, cupping his face in her hands before obliging with a kiss.

"If you asked me, I would never leave your side." Adrik smiled at the kiss, his eyes closing as if to savor the affection.
