"Not really, but maybe in a bit we can go to that dessert bar. You know, the one by the station near your place." Dimitra nodded eagerly with a grin on her face as she looked up to Dewey. "For now, let's just go hang out at your place. Maybe there's something fun on TV. We can always check up on Chip and Joanna Gaines."

“We can absolutely do that.” Dewey grinned, knowing what was at his house. “Ace just got discovery plus too, so it’s has exclusive HGTV content.” Dewey mentioned eagerly.

Dewey wasn’t like this with anyone else. Like most of the guards, he was quiet and irritable. He wasn’t normally charismatic or excitable. But being that way with Dimitra was easy and unavoidable, and he liked being able to be that way with her.

"I bet you've already watched all of that stuff." Dimitra teased, knowing that Dewey liked those sorts of things, although he was really only enthusiastic outwardly about them when he was around her. "Do you think you could build us one of those shelf-to-table tables for our place when we get one together?"

“Of course, I’ll build you whatever you want.” Dewey was quick to agree. “I figured I’d build you a house, Notebook style.” He grinned.

“A house in the city? Where would we even get the property?” Dimitra laughed, but in a way that indicated she didn’t mind the suggestion in the least.

“I don’t know! We’ll find a spot, or maybe we don’t have to stay in the city. We could go wherever you want to go.” Dewey boasted with a grin. Dewey had always had the fullest intention to follow Dimitra anywhere and do whatever he needed to do to make sure she had whatever she wanted. But it was still exciting to think about and talk about it.

“We could go to Aurora like your parents friends? Anywhere upstate or somewhere else? We could just travel around for awhile.” Dewey suggested.

“Oh? And where would you want to travel if we decided to do that?” Dimitra asked curiously. In truth, she had never been one to desire travel per se, but the idea of traveling with Dewey...well that was nice.

“Maybe France? Your mom is from there, right? Or maybe somewhere totally different, tropical? We could go to the Caribbean?” Dewey suggested as they padded down the long concrete stairs that led into the subway.

“We’d have to get swimsuits.” Dimitra teased, beaming at the notion. “Should I get a one piece or two?”

“Two obviously.” Dewey scoffed playfully at the question as he guided them onto the train. “Maybe I’d build you a beach house, and a porch that faces the ocean.” Dewey speculated out loud.

“Would we live next door to Ace and Darla? I know your dad wants to retire to the tropics.” Dimitra teased herself, remembering how Ace would often tell Adrik he’d work for him for “just a bit longer” before he took his savings and jetted off to Hawaii or the Bahamas. She didn’t ever know if he was joking or not, but she hardly thought Darla would want to move to an island.

“No, but between you and me, I think we’ll beat Ace and Darla to a tropic retreat anyways. They can find their own island.” Dewey said with a shrug. Dewey held onto the center pole as the train lurched forward, reaching out to secure Dimitra as the train moved.

“How do you see our future?” He asked with a soft smile.

Dimitra settled comfortably against Dewey, her hip snug to his and her arm comfortably looped around his waist as he held hers. She let out a thoughtful little hum and looked up as if she were thinking hard about her answer, although, certainly, it was something she thought about often and thought about happily.

"Well, I imagine us getting married, of course. It has to be a big wedding, like my siblings. And it has to be in a Russian orthodox church." Dimitra nodded. "We'll start a family, maybe sooner than later after that. I want a little boy who looks just like you, but definitely a couple more as well." She grinned at that, looking up at Dewey. "We'll spoil them rotten with lots of family trips and lots of playing together in that big house you say you're going to build us wherever we find the property." She sounded confident and sure of her words, because she most certainly was. She never doubted her love for Dewey and never thought for a second they wouldn't have a beautiful life together.

Dewey nodded thoughtfully, he couldn’t help but smile a little. He’d always hoped for an ending that involved the two of them, happily married and building a life together. It was comforting that Dimitra seemed to want the same things.

“What should we name him?” Dewey asked then, referring to said ‘little boy.’

“What about Ace? For your dad? Or would you prefer if we named him little Dewey Junior?” Dimitra asked, reaching up to squish at Dewey’s cheek.
