Lilith made a face again as she watched the book break apart effortlessly. She didn't often stick around after jobs to witness the collateral damage, and typically the Society or Hunters Guild would take care of it so it wasn't a huge issue. But Lilith couldn't help but feel bad for the guy, exhaling through her nose she let herself back into the library. Checking that the sign still read, 'closed,' she dropped her bag and her sword before pushing up her sleeves and approaching the stranger.

"Here, let me help." Lilith said then. "I'll take care of the body, go ahead and pull anything dry. Anything that seems salvageable, we can try drying in the son." She offered.

"I...yeah, I guess that's what we'll have to do." Jackson heaved a sigh still. This was going to take some explaining, but still.

Lilith had to call in for some assistance, normally the best way to dispose of a basilisk this large it's easiest to cut them up into smaller piece and get rid of the pieces. But, Lilith used her brain, she couldn't cut him up inside, it would create more mess. Instead, she called in her girlfriends to drive up and help her. They were on a bigger job with the guild, but the team was gracious enough to lend a hand. It was awkward, carrying out a giant demon snake, but similar to maneuvering a sectional sofa in terms of labor. After it was said and done, Lilith wiped the sweat off her brow before going to find her librarian.

Jackson had collected all of the books he could save from the rare book collection (which ended up being hardly anything, but it was better than nothing) and laid them out on a table he'd set up behind the library. He was frowning sadly still at the aftermath of everything, but he supposed it was better than getting eaten by a basilisk or whatever that thing was.

He sighed as he closed up a now dry book before reaching up to dab at his own forehead, sweating from being under the sun and from moving all the books he could.

Lilith found him, letting herself outside she approached him with a brisk wave.

"Hey," She called. "How's it going out here?" She asked.

"There's still a lot I can't save, but...at least no one got eaten, right?" Jackson feigned a little chuckle as he looked up at the red-headed girl. "Thanks."

"At least there's that," Lilith said, feigning a smile of her own. She observed the table, looking over what was salvaged before she looked at the man. "I'm sorry about your books, though." She said finally.

"It's...alright. I mean, it's not, but it is? Like I said, I'm glad I didn't get eaten, or anyone else, so that's important, but these books are rare, a lot of them are the only copies out there, so that's sad." Jackson said with a little shrug.

"Well, tomorrow's a new day. Want me to help put away the dry ones?" She offered then.

"Oh...I mean, you're probably busy, so you don't have to worry if you are." Jackson said with a little wave of his hand.

"I'm only as busy as I want to be, let me help." Lilith said with a light smile before offering out her hand. "My name is Lilith, by the way." She said.

"That's a nice name." Jackson gave a little smile, though he couldn't help wonder if it was a biblical reference and if that was the case...well who named their kid that? "I'm Jackson." He took her hand.

"Like the city, in Mississippi?" Lilith asked, giving his hand a firm but brief shake.

"Yeah, I mean, I wasn't named for the city, but it's the same, I guess." Jackson chuckled with a shrug.

"It's kind of funny, I feel like if my Dad ran out of baby names he'd pick Jackson. Because his name is Jack, and if it were for a son it would be so literal." Lilith laughed at her own anecdotal joke. "Anyways, let's get these inside. Like, all six of them."
