"I have three. Me and my...wife? Girlfriend? Uh, we've got a set of twin boys. They'll be three soon. We also have a daughter who's about ten months now." Romulus explained as he gave a little smile to Fausto in his arms. "Remus has a daughter, too." He pointed out.

Romulus opted not to say anything to the suggestion but gave a nod that was meant to mean "maybe".
"Um...so...you and...Father have been living here for awhile now?" Romulus ventured, simply trying to keep conversation up.

Natas looked confused and looked to Armand for further explanation. But Amulius opted to not delve into that topic.
"Do you think you guys might want to do some sight seeing today?" Amulius proposed.
"Oh of course! Whenever you guys feel up to it." Natas nodded. |

"I think...I'm ready whenever." Romulus said, glancing to his twin to gauge how he was feeling about the situation.
Armand cleared his throat a bit.
"I can stay home...cook for everyone. Na-your mother would be happy to show you all around." He said, earning a peculiar look from Romulus.
Romulus couldn't help but notice his father looked...uncomfortable?

Armand did just as he said he would and stayed behind with baby Fausto to tend to the house and cooking so Natas could take their older kids sightseeing.
Once everyone came back, they’d shared a slightly awkward dinner, though everyone seemed a little more relaxed after having spent time with a mother much kinder than the one they were accustomed to. The kids stayed for a bit longer, talking and sharing some lighthearted stories (though there were very few), but then they were on their way back home...leaving Armand and Natas alone, and right now that didn’t feel like a good thing.
Armand had been thinking all day about the consequences of his actions. Would Natas stay mad at him? Would she decide to return to New York to be closer to their children?
Would she leave him?
He was worried about the possibilities even as he tried to keep himself with cleaning up the kitchen after everyone while Natas presumably was preparing Fausto for bed.

Natas had been busying herself with Fausto, getting him ready for bed which wasn’t really a chore. Fausto was a pleasant and cheerful baby, he cooed and giggled during his bath and splashed happily in the water. When Natas cuddled him and read to him, he drifted to sleep effortlessly with his thumb in his mouth. Natas pet his hair, smiling down sadly at him. What were her other children like? She felt like she had lost so much time, she couldn’t remember being their mom. But Armand knew, he knew and he withheld it from her. She had known Armand to be a gentle man, considerate of her feelings and safety always, she was sure his intentions weren’t malicious. But that didn’t excuse it.
Setting Fausto down in his crib, she tucked him in before padding out into the kitchen were Armand was also keeping busy. He seemed worried, she was positive she knew why, but she couldn’t let herself feel bad for him. Armand didn’t get to be coddled in this situation.
“Why?” She asked suddenly, announcing herself from the doorway. |

Armand’s entire body tensed when Natas entered the kitchen and it only grew more so when she spoke. Part of him wanted to feign ignorance and ask what she meant, but he knew that they both knew what she was asking, so he didn’t. He took a moment, turning off the water in the sink and stacking the undone plates neatly, before he turned around to face Natas, a painfully guilty look on his face that was strange and unbecoming on him.
“Because I couldn’t break your heart with the truth of it all.” He admitted, though it pained him to do so as he felt like it would open the floodgates in Natas’s probing for answers.

Natas just stared at him, hard. Eyes burning holes into Armand as she tried to hypothesize was he meant by that.
“Did you really think you could hide it from me? We’re you planning to lie about our other children for the rest of my life?” She asked. |

“I...know it is not the answer you want to hear, but...yes.” Armand admitted with a hard swallow. “And I know now that that is wrong, I should have told you about them, but, Natas, that would have required I tell you everything and you...I didn’t think, and I don’t know still even, if you could have coped with it.”

She was quiet again, tactful in her thinking. Old Natas would’ve already said what she needed to say; no special consideration needed. But now she was different, softer in many ways but not about this.
“We had four children, four children who one day didn’t have parents; suddenly from what I gather.” Natas began. “I’m one person, why didn’t you just dump me? Make me someone else’s problem and be there for our kids?” |

“Because it’s not that simple, Natas.” Armand said quickly, as if just the idea of leaving Natas behind still left a bad taste in his mouth.
