Natas could see that he was wounded, but remained unmoved.

"Armand, I do not know what love it. I don't know that anyone needs it, that we need it for what we have here. I don't know how love would change the dynamic we have, would you like me to hold your hand? Caress your face or pet your hair? Are those things truly more valuable than what we already have?" Natas asked.

Armand stood for a moment before going to turn away from Natas then, clearly defeated by the whole ordeal.

"No, I suppose those things aren't important, but I wanted to feel something with you. How foolish is that?" He said.

"Quite." Natas uttered, eyes still narrowed, almost annoyed that Armand had hurt feelings over something like this.

"Right. Quite." Armand said, his jaw tense. "In that case, I don't really know how to continue this partnership at this time." He admitted, back still turned.

Now, Natas was taken aback, she furrowed her brows but did her best to appear unaffected. "What will you do then?" She asked.

"I will continue our work, you're free to do so as well." Armand explained. "You never really needed me around anyways and I can't help but feel a sense of wrongness by remaining at your side after...well, this."

Natas made a bit of a face, she couldn't help but feel like Armand was being dramatic. But she wasn't going to argue.

"Fine. And what of the children? I'm fine with having full responsibility, but you should know that I am pregnant now." She said.

Armand had had his suspicions, but did not say as such.

"I won't leave you with all of our children. I'll still provide for all of you as I have done so far and will assist with them as I have." He explained.

Armand stood quiet for a moment, simply watching Natas and hoping maybe she'd say...well, something else. Anything else. When she didn't, he pressed his lips together.

"As much of an understanding as I'm going to get I see." He said quietly before going to step out of the room.

Time passed, months in fact. As her belly got bigger and bigger, it was apparent that Natas was pregnant with twins again. This time it was looking like they were going to be full term, which is somewhat uncommon in twins. Armand was around enough, sometimes there and sometimes not. He was present for the children not they needed too much looking after, it was helpful. The hut felt quiet when he was gone, a silence Natas was not used to being that they had already been together so long. She was sure she just wasn't used to it, once the twins are born there won't be opportunities to notice.

However, where with the other children, Natas slid them out with much ease, this time around she was having problems. There was something wrong. She noticed her contractions which hadn't brought her much discomfort in the past so there wasn't cause for alarm there. But she was in pain, there was a great pang in her womb that hadn't ever been there before, and before any water or mucus, there was blood.

She stared in somewhat awe, as she looked down wide eyed at the pool of blood between her legs. There was no magic she could use, not on herself at least. And there was no way of knowing for her what to do next. For the first time in her life she moved shakily from her place in the center of the room and to the bed. The transition caused her to wince in pain, she let out a choked gasp as she tried to ease on to the bed. Already, she was sweating and bearing her teeth down in pain.

Despite what one might draw from the last real discussion between Armand and Natas, Armand was not a particularly affectionate man. Though he admittedly had (and still had) a certain level of devotion and perhaps even love towards Natas, he was never really affectionate with her nor was he very affectionate with his children. He did understand, however, that his children had certain needs that needed to be be met for their own well being and being that Natas was very pregnant, with twins again no less, she also had certain needs he as her...well not mate or lover, but as the father of her children, needed to tend to.

The children were being rather bothersome as Natas tried to work on her usual tasks and Armand could tell they were grating on her nerves while he was there, so he opted to take them to in the woodlands that made up the hut's "backyard".

They'd been outside for quite some time, but never really drifted too far (what with the twins still being young tots and Fauna being even littler) so when he felt a sudden wrongness in his gut it only took him a matter of seconds to scoop up all three children and make a dash back for the hut.

Upon reaching the hut, there was an overwhelming stench of blood as well as increasing sounds of distress coming from the bedroom he and Natas once shared. He placed the children on the floor before going to the bedroom where he found Natas. His eyes grew wide at the sight of blood on the bed and her lying there in obvious pain and distress. What was going on? He hurried over to the bedside, reaching out to grab at her face with one hand and her hand with the other.

"Natas, what's wrong? What's happening?" He sputtered slightly.

Natas involuntarily grabbed his hand with hers and gave it a squeeze, a moment of weakness she would only be willing to share with him; mate or not.

"I'm not sure, something is wrong." Natas choked, doing her best not to sputter out her words. "They're dying.." She said then, though not positive.

Armand felt his heart give a startled jolt at the statement, but he hardly missed a beat as he leaped into action. He let go of Natas's hand and promptly began rooting about the room until he found a piece of chalk, one of many that were strewn about the hut, and scrawled out a sigil on the floor, the only one he knew for teleportation and the only one he knew how to use. Before he could "blip" away, he went back to Natas and reached out to anxiously smooth her hair a bit, as if to offer assurance.

"I'm going to get someone, Natas. You're going to be alright." He said firmly to her.

Natas nodded briefly, looking up at him and trusting him that he was right. Even though she knew this wouldn't kill her, not physically, they were both thinking about a different kind of alright.
