"Maybe...I'm not sure. It's a lot...And some of the bodies, the victims, are only fatally wounded. If it's a wolf...He's not eating all these people, he's killing for sport? That doesn't sound like a wolf to me, not the way nature intended. And what would it be coming all the way into the city for?" Valentina posed.

"Do you think some of these attacks were possibly human?" Rundin asked, already drawing the conclusion that these were in fact werewolf attacks as he'd surmised.

"No, I mean, what human would rip out throats instead of using a gun or a knife?" Valentina challenged. "Although, if it were possible to be both somehow? It sounds silly but the only mammal that kills for sport is a human, but the devastation left behind appears completely animal." She added.

"That's too bad, it's a shame to let go a family home. Maybe you can move her but hold off on selling until they figure out whose responsible?" Valentina offered as Ion came back out and dropped a plate in front the man.

"It's not the same, but whenever my brother disappeared we kept his space the same." Valentina said. "So it might be nice for your grandmother knowing she has a place to go back to when it's all over." She nodded.

"Well, my parents don't buy into it at all. But I usually refer to him as the first victim, Toma went missing and then like, 72 hours later all this started." Valentina explained.

"I don't disagree, I mean, we may never know the truth at this point." Valentina shrugged. "Is that why you came? Has what's happening raised brows outside of Bucharest?" She asked.

"Where abouts is your Grandmother? If shes in the near countryside I can't imagine not knowing her, I live out there too." Valentina asked then.

In all of Rundin's years, all nine hundred (give or take) of them, he never truly thought he'd be here. Of course, in his youth and with the world not as small as it felt today, he assumed he'd be living here, in his motherland of Romania, but he never thought he'd be here in the modern era with a position with an institution of his founding, a beautiful wife he loved dearly, and three rambunctious children who he would certainly die for. He woke up feeling like every day was going to be a good day, starting from the very first day he'd woken up with Valentina in his arms all those years ago.

Today was no exception even though he woke up knowing he and his sons, Mishka and Mihai, would be stuck doing work for his father-in-law and their grandfather, Sebastian, while on their usual vacation in the Romanian countryside.

The two boys were currently hauling wood, and occasionally each other, in a wheelbarrow to a storage shed Rundin had built with Sebastian years ago before any of his children were big enough to offer their help. Rundin himself was doing the chopping, often giving up the axe to either of the boys so they could one-up one another. While the men did the "gritty work", Astrid, was mucking about the chicken coop collecting eggs.
