Armand heaved a sigh, reaching up to rub a hand over his face as he leaned up against the sink.
“We...we weren’t good parents to them, Natas. We...were horrible to them.” He spoke, but it pained him. “We raised them to be foot soldiers, not like children. We were both so cruel and... they left us, Natas. They left.”

“Foot soldiers?” She repealed, trying to keep up. Her mind was racing, trying hard to remember and piece together truths. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to know more. “I...Was I sad, when they left?” |

| Natas cupped a hand over her mouth to try and mask her horror. But her eyes said it all. This was enough, she didn’t want to know anymore. Turning quickly on her heel and retreating into their bedroom. |

| Natas didn’t turn back, she didn’t know what to say. She flung herself onto their bed in a dramatic fashion, the old Natas never would’ve done something so theatric. She buried her face in a pillow, trying hard not to cry feeling certain Armand was there and she did not want him to see it. How awful she must’ve been, for her children to disappear and so horrible Armand could not speak it? |

Sure enough, Armand came in close after Natas. He paused in the doorway long enough to see her crash into their bed and shove her face into the pillows. He swallowed, remorseful that he had made her feel this way.
“Natas...Natas...my love, I’m...I’m so sorry.” He said, approaching the bed then. He sat himself down on the edge of the bed and reached out to touch her shoulder.

Natas didn’t shudder away from the touch, while she was upset in part at Armand, his touch brought her comfort.
“It makes sense now, the way they looked at me, how they acted.” She sniveled. She got up quickly then, eyes misty as she gathered up Armand’s hands in her own. “You can’t let it happen to Fausto.” |

Armand took Natas’s hands firm in his own and shook his head.
“I promise you, it is already so much different with him. We’re diffterent people now, we can be better for him.” He assured her.

Natas expression softened a bit at that, giving his hand a squeeze.
“And Fausto comes first, if it’s between he and I, promise me you’ll choose him.” |

Armand closed his eyes and reached up to place his hand over Natas’s on his chest.
“I...I will, but, Natas...know that I will always, always fight to protect you as well. You’re...you’re my one and only.” He said to her, opening his eyes then to peer up at her.
