“It’s alright, but that being said I always have room for orange cake.” Ava grinned before accepting her plate from Han. “Dad makes the best orange cake, he’ll have to teach you how to make it so you can make it for me.” She added.

“What? I was just saying that it’s more than she usually puts on her plate.” Romulus said.

“I’d definitely be down for a little father and son-in-law cooking date.” Han grinned, though Romulus grimaced.

“Yeah, so Han can make it for his kids.” Remedy grinned a shit eating grin, she was playing of course.

Ava made a bit of a face as she began getting into her plate; tearing apart rolls. “I mean it would be useful to know, to make cake for our kids.” Ava agreed nonchalantly.

“Well, I guess it’d be good that he has years to perfect his baking skills.” Romulus said, none the wiser that years was looking more like months.

At the comment, Han looked over at Ava.

Ava let out a long exhale through her nose before taking a bite of her roll.

“Well, definitely not years.” She began quietly between chews. “The sooner the better probably.”

“What? Absolutely not. You’re both still kids, you should wait before having kids of your own. Take it from me, it wasn’t easy when me and your mom had you kids.” Romulus said as he tore a leg from the chicken to put on his plate.

Though it wasn’t meant as anything, the gesture almost made Han shrink in his seat.

“Your dads right, I mean we were older than you guys now but it was really hard. No books or tiktoks or anything can fully prepare you, I feel like I’m still winging it most days with you guys if I’m being honest.” Remedy agreed with a shrug.

Ava looked over at Han and squeezed his hand under the table. She turned her attention back to her parents and took another deep breath.

“What if I told you I had been preparing? Researching and looking up everything I could for months?” Ava asked.

"I would tell you that I think it's a silly thing to research since you hopefully aren't having kids for a good long while." Romulus said, completely missing the hint Ava was dropping.

Han cleared his throat a bit and gave Ava a meaningful look, a look that said he was following her lead.

“Dad, look at me.” Ava said sternly, leaning over the table some and looking at Romulus.

Remedy looked confused, but instead of looking between Ava and Romulus, she looked right at Han. Somehow she expected that he knew what was going on and was in part, responsible.

Romulus looked up, a brow quirked. It wasn't every day that Ava sounded serious, especially when talking to him.

Han caught Remedy looking at him and instantly felt hot with anxiety, a nervous little horn starting to press and bud out from his forehead.

Ava looked at her dad and didn’t break her gaze.

“I’m pregnant.” She said slowly.

Romulus stared, stunned. He must have misheard Ava, right? There was no way she was pregnant. He knew that she was sexually active, she had been for awhile, but despite not liking it, Romulus and Remedy had a very open dialogue with Ava and safe practices. There was no way she was pregnant:

But then he looked at Han, who looked fretfully anxious and had a horn starting to boot.

He took a moment more, eyes locked on Han, locked on the one who had certainly been the one to put Ava in this predicament, before he shot to his feet and reached across the table with a clatter to grab Han by the front of his shirt to jerk him forward.

Han’s reached his hands up to scrabble at Romulus’s grasp.

“Dad!” Ava yelled, she reached across to try and pry Romulus’s hands off of Hans shirt.

Remedy, jumped up and was carefully trying to pry Ava off of Romulus. One, so she didn’t get hurt, and also because she was going to let Romulus do what he was going to do.

Romulus shouted a string of Spanish obscenities as he shook Han violently, eyes going a feral yellow and teeth elongating into threatening fangs. It had been a long time since he’d eaten a man, but he could make an exception tonight.

“What were you thinking! You got her PREGNANT?” He yelled.

“I’m sorry, Mister Navares! It was an accident!” Han managed as he was shaken.

“Dad stop! It’s not just his fault it’s mine too. I mean kind of, I was on the pill but it just happened!” Ava yelled as Remedy tried to peel everyone off of each other.

“Separate!” Remedy yelled.
