Remus made a bit of a face, he didn’t like much about himself. To be fair he didn’t know much about himself outside the thug he was built to be, but he did know that wasn’t who he wanted to be anymore. He wasn’t good at much either outside of being violent. So he had to think on it for a second.
“I like that I’m observant.” He decided, thinking more in the context of his job and less in the context of taking hints from pretty girls. |

“Papanasi. It’s like a doughnut dessert from Romania. Both of my parents are from the countryside there.” Astrid explained, slowing a bit as the cane up on a bodega with their open sign still lit up and their door cracked open since the weather was so nice. She craned her neck to look inside for a moment before seeing what she was looking for. “Do you like sweets?” She asked, looking up at Remus.

Astrid took a beat before letting go of Remus’s arm and gesturing for him to stay put.
“Wait right there.” She said before scurrying inside the store. She went over to the little counter freezer and did a quick inventory before reaching in to grab in two push pops. As soon as she paid for them, she trotted back outside to Remus and held one out to him. “Here.”

“It’s a push pop.” Astrid said, reaching out to peel the paper off the top for him. She took his hand and guided it to the stick and gave it a little push to get t started. “It’s not papanasi, but it’s a pretty standard sweet. When we were younger, my older brother would buy us all push pops on our way home from school when it was hot.”

| Remus observed it, gave it a sniff even, it smelled sort of like an orange but not quite. He hesitantly gave it a lick before nodding almost immediately with approval. “It’s good.” He declared, almost surprised sounding. |
