Romano didn't miss a single beat as Jai threw himself into his middle. He wrapped his arms around him tight and rubbed at his back.
"Jai, you're okay. You're okay. I'm here. You're just having a bad dream." Romano said, though he wasn't sure that was entirely the case.

Jai could feel his heart pounding hard against Romano’s chest, but the tight embrace helped comfort and balance him. The tapping slowly faded away, though Jai was still afraid to check if she was really gone.
“Is she-“ Jai panted, nearly asking if she was still there, as if anyone else could’ve seen the hanged girl. |

Jai continued, breathing hard but was coming too. He waited, not hearing anything as though the girl would rush back in a minute to trick him. He pulled away slightly, finally daring to look over his shoulder. When he didn’t see the girl he let out a heavy sigh and his body relaxed only to realize he had previously ensnared Romano in a vice grip, something he only did with his mom. He released Romano quickly and tried to scoot back.
“I am so sorry!” Jai exclaimed, embarrassed. |

Since knowing Romano, he’s always been authentically himself, so when he said it was okay, Jai believed him. He relaxed a bit more, he ruffled his hair and let out a deep exhale.
“Ah sort of...But no.” Jai admitted with some defeat. |

| “I told you before...I was different.” Jai began slowly, a little embarrassed, he didn’t like putting himself under a lens. But in this instance it had somewhat been done for him and it seemed better to just tell the truth. “This always sounds so stupid to say out loud...It was a ghost, I see ghosts.” He admitted with an embarrassed flush rising to his cheeks. |

"I'm not even human technically, it isn't totally outrageous that ghosts are real." He said before taking a momentary pause. "Is that how you knew this place wasn't actually haunted when we first met?"
