"Oh, cool, cool, cool. Me too." Nic sputtered out a nervous little laugh. He hadn't really talked to other girls outside of Norah and his mom, and he certainly never talked to girls who gave him an instantaneous crush.

“Yeah, it’s pretty cool. Freshman year was pretty stressful.” Olive chuckled a little before looking past him as teams were disappearing into the locker rooms. “Should you be with your team?” She asked then.

"Huh? Oh! Oh! Um...yeah, I should. I, uh, should go." Nic nervously chuckled as he looked over at the other boys leaving. "Uh, will I see you around today?" He asked.

Olive nodded and smiled.

“Yup! I’ll be here all day if you need anything. I’m helping out with the camp today, so I’ll definitely be around.” She assured.

“Most definitely!” Olive chirped then, she gave him a thumbs up before looking to the next group. “I gotta go, you should too. Good luck today!” She said before waving goodbye and moving on to her next task.

It had been about four hours, the respective teams doing their own thing until the sound of their coaches whistleblow. Mr.Flack and Olive split up to guide the various teams toward the cafeteria where the school would be hosting a lunch.

“If everyone could please follow me, the cafeteria is this way! You will have your choice of three proteins, three veggies and three starches. Additionally there are fruit cups and salads stocked in the freezer with drinks, please maintain one drink per person!” Olive explained, calling over the other voices; athletes chattering amongst themselves.

Norah found Nic, rejoining him at his side with a cold towel draped over her neck.

“No cruddy tea?” Norah chuckled, nudging Nic.

“Yeah, no cruddy tea.” Nic said, though he seemed very distracted as he continued to admire Olive like she was a waking day dream.

Norah looked up at Nic and then at Olive, and back again at Nic. She’d known Nic practically her whole life, she could tell when there was something different about him. Though she hadn’t seen him love struck before, but she supposed the only reason Nic would be staring like this is if he had taken a liking to her, she knew Nic wouldn’t care about the girls height.

“What’s up with you?” She asked, maneuvering so to attempt to obscure Nic’s view of Olive. “Did that girl give you trouble? Want me to kick her ass?” She asked, though it wasn’t a genuine offer.

Nic blinked, a bit startled at having been back to reality from his ogling by Norah abruptly in his face. He clucked his tongue and reached out to gently "shove" at Norah's face.

"No, I don't need you to beat anyone up. Especially not her." He rolled his eyes.
