Arte had been completely immersed in her training for the Society, and Lucinda had been nothing but supportive. She helped however and whenever she could, but it was lonely at times. A lot of things Arte wanted to do alone or with her Dad (considering he had first hand experience), which Lucinda understood. But that meant a lot of Lucinda just hanging around the Laughlin house waiting for her best friend to be done. She didn't mind though, Lucinda preferred staying in the city since she lived so far away. Being in the city meant being closer to everything she couldn't get out in the sticks.

So her days included so far, taking the train into the city, getting breakfast at 'Mom's' place (the bakery where Roxanne worked), hitting Barnes and Noble and comic book shops, and then normally Best Buy for anime. After that it was pretty much posting up at the Laughlin's, which everyone was more or less accustomed too, Lucinda had been going there since she was little.

Right now, it was still early afternoon and Lucinda had finished her shopping a little early. Dropping her bags on the coffee table she began getting set up, popping Evangelion into the dvd player before flopping onto the couch and kicking off her shoes. Wide eyed and tuned in as she began fishing snacks out of her bag, wrestling out a box of Pocky to get started.

JJ was in mourning.

Or, well, a kind of mourning.

He'd officially lost the only girl he remotely "loved" to a much lesser man and while he was never one to get too down and out, he was very much in a depressed state of mind. So much so that Jeraud Laughlin Junior, the workaholic, had taken some leave from work.

He was currently holed up in his room at the family home, embracing the silence and mulling over his thoughts, when he heard a rather churchy tune, followed by annoying 80s harmonizing music, playing from the living room. He pursed his lips and glanced over at his door before he wrestled to his feet and stomped over to go investigate and shut up whoever was causing the "ruckus".

Surprisingly, it wasn't anyone who actually lived in the house as the source of the sound, just Lucinda, his sister's friend.

"Making yourself comfortable?" He asked, clearly "irritated" as he stomped out of his room and into the living room.

Lucinda did a quick double take before turning back to her show, not wanting to miss a beat of what she'd seen one hundred times.

"That's weird, what are you doing here?" She asked, not bothered by irritating JJ.

She had a pretty standard relationship with the Laughlin siblings, mirroring Arte's relationship with hers. They were mostly background noise to her, although she did make it very clear she wasn't intimidated or impressed by any of them.

JJ's chest puffed out in further annoyance at both the question (or rather it's answer) and also at the fact that Lucinda had little to no regard for his obvious irritation. He glanced around and found the remote for the TV, snatching it up so he could turn it down.

"Some of us are trying to enjoy their time off." He said.

"By doing what, brooding in your room? What's got your booty-hole in a wad anyways?" Lucinda asked, snatching back the remote but not turning back up the volume. She knew Arte had mentioned something about JJ and him being depressed but Lucinda had kind of tuned it out.l

JJ made a face at Lucinda, something along the lines of a distasteful scowl.

"I'm taking some time off, sue me." He said.

"I'd lose, you're lawyer would be way better than mine." Lucinda said, settling back in her seat before patting the cushion next to her. "Chill, then. I have snacks." She offered.

"I'm not interested in your sna-are those Hershey clusters?" JJ said, eyeballing a package of chocolate amidst the pile of "garbage" Lucinda had to offer.

"Yeah man, I'm not a monster. I like chocolate too, help yourself." Lucinda offered, pulling the bag out and sitting it on the coffee table. "I can change this if you want to watch something else." She offered again.

"Well...what is it? Like cartoons or something?" JJ asked, taking the friendly gesture (mostly for the chocolate) and taking a seat beside Lucinda on the couch.

"Isn't that like the church? Or is that Evangelist?" JJ asked, tearing into the packaging of the chocolate.

"I think that's Evangelist, this has robots and a whiny kid in it." Lucinda explained briefly.

"Robots? Kids? So...is this like a kid's show?" JJ asked, furrowing his brows. He was never one for cartoons, not even when he was little, so it was a little strange to him that Lucinda would be watching a kid's show.
