Cardinal skipped toward her locker with a spring in her step, her good friend Leon was a new Dad. She realized how taboo getting pregnant in high school was, and of course would never recommend it. But she knew Leon and his girlfriend Alby pretty well, she figured that kid hit the jackpot for parents. Alby was resourceful and so mature, Leon was earnest and kind; their child would surely only get the best traits from two of the best people she knew. Spinning the lock three times before jerking her locker open, she was greeted with a bundle of notes, written on college ruled paper and folded into little footballs.
Speaking of best people she knew...
Cardinal only sighed, rolling her eyes before scrunching up all the notes in her palm to dispose of. Ever since she started school in kindergarten, people teased her for an assortment of things. Being chubby was always her truth, she had never been petite in any sense of the word other than being short as long as she had been fat. The older she got, her peers would use new words. Like freak, or dyke whenever she dyed her hair green or started hanging out at the skate park with Leon and his friends. It only ever bothered her briefly in her childhood, but the older she got she could only care less about these words as she stuffed the crumpled notes into her bag with her binder and text books.
In her own opinion, she thought she was very cute. Her freckles reminded her of stars, green was her favorite color and she thought it complimented her skin tone. All of her piercings she found interesting and unique, just like her personality. And never had she ever been ashamed of her stretch marks or cellulite. So proudly, she shut her locker without a second thought before dropping onto her board and rolling down the halls. She wouldn't even think about anything else once she met Leon and Alby's adorable little baby.
While Seamus hadn't been the biggest fan of Leon Maxwell, he'd definitely become a bit more pleasant in his general direction, especially after the birth of his niece, Paisley. Seamus wasn't really sure how it was possible to love a little human so much, but it certainly was possible as he found himself in complete adoration of every little thing Paisley did from little toots to sleepy stretches. He was enamored.
Paisley certainly wasn't the only person or thing Seamus loved, but he certainly had always had a stoic air about him. Even as a small boy he'd been more serious, unlike both of his parents (though not totally different from his granddad) and even his sister. He had a quicker temper, though it was mostly his intolerance for annoyance of any level, but he was still young and always working on that.
He was doing such work when he'd finally conceded to his sister's request to helping her do a face mask, which turned into HIM doing a face mask as well while they waited for Paisley to wake up from one of her little naps. He'd come home early from school after his father picked him up for the purpose of him staying with Alby and Paisley until Leon could come over since he and Biddy needed to run errands. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Leon was a little later than he'd like, he hated leaving Alby and little Paisley alone. Not because Alby couldn't handle it necessarily, he just wanted to be useful and also couldn't bare to miss a single thing his daughter did. But, he also didn't like showing up empty handed. He'd stopped to shop before going over, he got more diapers because they could always use more, nipple cream for Alby because man, breastfeeding wasn't easy. But he couldn't resist getting Alby a frozen yogurt, he jogged up the steps with everything in tow, struggling to open the door.
"Hold on, I got ya!" A voice called.
Leon glanced over his shoulder and smile when he saw Cardinal hop off her board and jog up to meet him.
"Let me get the door for you, Mr. Dad." She laughed, turning the knob and pushing open the door.
Leon smiled and uttered a 'thank you,' before quietly padding in. "Hello?" He called in a hushed whisper, already picking up on the silence he walked into, assuming it was due to naptime. Cardinal followed his lead, leaving her board on the porch before tip toeing in and shutting the door behind them.
"Hey guys, I brought some goodies. I got you a frozen yogurt, love. Some nipple cream and diapers for Paisley." He said, setting down the diapers before offering out the container of yogurt to Alby. "Also, look who followed me." He said as Cardinal poked her head out from around the corner.
"Hi, I hope it's okay I came. I wanted to meet, Paisley." She smiled, waving.
Alby lit up upon seeing Cardinal and she set the froyo down before getting up to meet her friend. Meanwhile, Seamus's eyes only shot wide with horror as he saw Cardinal and while she must have seen him with his face mask. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
"How are you feeling?" Cardinal asked, smiling as she pulled Alby into a hug. "Hey, Seamus." She added, waving at Alby's brother with the same friendly smile.
Seamus was someone she always appreciated, nicest kid on the football team, hands down. He was always nice to her and she was sure it wasn't because his sister was also friendly. Cardinal was positive Seamus was just a good person.
"H-hi." Seamus's voice cracked nervously as he moved to get up then, scrambling a bit. "I-I forgot, Mom asked to start dinner for her." He lied. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
"Seamus, me and Leon can start dinner. I want to spend time with him anyway before Pais wakes up. Cardinal, you're more than welcome to use some of my mask, Seamus can even help you apply it. He's a pro." Alby teased with a smirk. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
The face mask container was still sitting on the counter from when Seamus and Alby put it on. When he and Cardinal reached the bathroom, Seamus gestured for her to go ahead and take a seat on the toilet, putting the lid down for her.
"Take a seat, I'll, uh, wash my hands." He said. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
"My hair isn't really long enough to pull back in a band, I could probably just use my hands while you apply?" She questioned, already perched on the toilet as she used her hands to pull the green hair away from her face. Cardinal's face was sort of cute, round and pale with little grown freckles. Her dimples and septum were pierced, there was scars remaining from previous alterations she grew out of. Her eyes were big and round, slightly turned inward; almost catlike in their shape and in their bright ember color. In spite of her striking features, she was quite baby faced.
