Art made a face like she was confused. "I don't know if this would be a job to do that. For a field position...Normally you have to die or be here long enough to retire to cycle out. I mean, pretty much everyone there with the exception of my brother has been there...Forever, centuries." She said.

"I guess that's true..." Arte pondered. If he got in she supposed she would only had a few months maybe to reapply after her quit. "But you're not worried about getting hurt, or killed?" She asked then.

"Mm, not really. We're pretty durable, people like you and me. And then I'm like...extra durable because of what my dad is. Or, rather, I think that's how it goes." Sal reasoned as they came up on the little cafe just down the road from the Society office.

"Will he though? You're both pretty different." Arte commented. While Lucinda's family was mostly background noise, she was capable of observing amidst the chaos. All the kids were pretty different, which was surprising at such close quarters.

"Mm, it's mostly the hair." Sal said as he stopped in front of the cafe, pushing open the door and stepping aside to let Arte in first.

It was a quaint little shop, the kind where they only used ceramic mugs to keep up with the whole "green" lifestyle. At the front counter there was a glass case showcasing all of the sweets they baked in house.

Arte's eyes gleamed when she saaw the pastries behind the glass, as much as she was trying to change she would always have a weakness for sweets.

"Oh my gosh, these look so good!" Arte exclaimed with pure joy. She had sort of been on a diet for training, all high protein meals.

"They're pretty good. Me and my dad usually get donuts from here. He says that the simple flavors remind him of boortsog, another treat he likes." Sal explained, pointing to a pile of donuts in the case.

Sal chuckled as he watched Arte admire the sweets and reason to herself.

"Do you want coffee? Hot chocolate?" He asked.

"Cafe Americano, please." Arte chirped happily. "Will you split a doughnut with me?" She asked then.

"Of course." Sal went up to the counter to place their order, making sure to get a few extra donuts for his father bagged up to go. He paid and took the treats over to a table.

Arte admired the treats a couple moments longer, observing the swirls of cream on the macaroons and the folds in the croissants. Her passion was not in baking, but she loved it quite a bit. Finally she turned away from the case and pulled out her chair at the table Sal picked out before taking a seat.
