Blossom immediately flung open the door, blinking and doe eyed at Ricky all dressed up.

“Ah! You look so good!” She exclaimed quickly before catching herself. “Uh sorry, hello! Come on in.” She chuckled sheepishly, stepping aside and opening the door wider for him.

Ricky stood and stared for a moment, his cheeks pink and his eyes wide in adoration as he looked at Blossom.

"You look beautiful." He commented, his whole face brightening with a smile. "Your outfit, your hair, it all looks really nice."

“I don’t think it’s silly at all. I think it’s beautiful.” Ricky still insisted, but he leaned in to whisper into her ear on the off chance he’d offend. “But I think you’re awfully pretty all the time, gym clothes and all.”

“Oh.” Blossom exclaimed, her face beat red as she reached to cover her face.

“Ahem!” Someone cleared their throat behind her.

It was Violet.

Ricky quickly reeled back, cheeks pink and flustered at being caught.

“Oh! You must be Blossom’s mom! Thank you for having me over, I’m really happy to finally be meeting you.” Ricky said, putting on his best smile, which was like all his smiles. He stepped forward and offered his hand.

Violet arched a brow, shifting her gaze between Blossom and Ricky. Blossom pleaded silently with wide eyes for her Mother to be polite. Violet obliged somewhat, giving Ricky the briefest of handshakes before pulling back.

“Come in. Have a seat.” Violet instructed, nodding in toward the living room.

“Of course.” Ricky headed inside and followed the gesture to the living room. Before he situated himself, he turned and offered the bouquet to Violet. “I got these for you, for having me over and all.” He said.

Violet looked at Ricky and the flowers, considering the gesture.

“You are a nice boy, aren’t you?” Violet asked. “Let’s find out if that will be enough. Blossom, take the flowers while we sit.” Violet instructed, waving Ricky along.

Blossom hurriedly accepted the flowers before disappearing into the kitchen for a vase.

Ricky watched Blossom disappear and went ahead looked at Violet, feeling a bit nervous now after Violet spoke. She sounded stern, just like Blossom had warned.

Violet say down and gestured for Ricky to do the same.

“So, you’ve taken a liking to my daughter. What about her do you like?” She asked.

“Oh, well, there’s a lot to like about her.” Ricky said as he forgot about everything he liked about Blossom out of sheer nervousness. He fidgeted with his hands a bit. “She’s very kind and she...makes me laugh a lot. She’s a good person to talk to about things because she’ll tell you how it is, but is never mean about it. She makes me feel like I can do a lot more than I thought before. She’s also very pretty.” Ricky said, hands still wringing slightly.

Violet nodded thoughtfully as Blossom reappeared , taking a nervous seat by her mother. Blossom appeared just as nervous as Ricky, fidgeting anxiously with her sampot.

“Blossom,” Violet addressed suddenly, causing her to jolt. “What is it you like about Ricky?”

“Oh! Well, everything.” Blossom flushed. “He’s very witty, and hardworking. He cares a lot about family and doing his best, he’s a very good cook but his coffee is bad...but uh, it’s kind of endearing? I drink it anyways because he made it for me.” She rambled.

“My coffee isn’t that bad.” Ricky laughed, almost forgetting Violet was in the room.

“I see. You’re hardworking but make bad coffee.” Violet nodded, trying to make sure she understood.

“Oh, uh, yeah Momma. He really is.” Blossom nodded.

Violet was quiet, contemplative.

“So, What are your feelings on marriage and family?” Violet asked.
