"It's okay, it's just...how did you talk about it with Neran, Ania?" Dimitra asked, looking towards her sister. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“Me?” Ania was a little surprised. She wasn’t really a romantic person and didn’t have much experience outside of Neran. “Ah well, I guess it was similar with us. I don’t know, Mom and Vania both really championed Neran through our courtship. I guess they saw something I didn’t see, at first. I didn’t know if I wanted to date Neran, but at a certain point I did know that I didn’t want to lose him and that was enough until I came around.” Ania explained.
“Well...I know I like Dewey and I definitely don’t want to lose him, but what if I don’t like him enough?” Dimitra askrd, her brows pinched a bit still. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“We can’t know for sure, that’s up to Dewey. But, he’s a good kid. And genuinely cares about you, I wouldn’t bet on him abandoning you.” Vania tried to reassure.
Dimitra wasn’t entirely satisfied with that answer and pursed her lips and slumped into her chair a bit. She supposed, at worst, she and Dewey would have a conversation and they could talk about it. Or, really, she didn’t want to suppose, they could talk and it could end badly.
“I guess...we’ll just have to talk.” She sighed. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Little Nina Laughlin, much like Dimitra, she was the surprise and most celebrated princess of the Laughlin household. Jer and Roxanne experienced so much hardship with pregnancy, so many complications and loss. They didn’t plan for Nina, but with most of the kids out of the house, it was a pleasant surprise. She was definitely different from her siblings and parents but also had shared characteristics. As a little girl she was a chunky little Daddy’s girl. She loved bugs and splashing in rain puddles but also loved walking around in Roxanne’s heels and playing in her jewelry.
As a teen not too much changed, she was stretching out a bit. She was already shapely like her mother with a big ol booty and smaller waiste. Her features weren’t totally consistent with her dads or her mother’s, she didn’t bare the strong Chavalier facial features like her sisters. Her jaw was pretty square and her nose was more button like than pinched and upturned. Her brows were thin and didn’t have an intense arch following an intense brow bone. But she was very beautiful in an unconventional way, blue eyes so bright they were like diamonds. Long and curly lashes with a mop of wavy light hair. Her face and body speckled with beauty marks, that she did share with her mother.
Nina was a bit silly and weird, she didn’t have particular strengths or interests. But she did like to travel, so she worked just hard enough to get a scholarship abroad. She went to school in France for several years and loved every second. But, scholarships aren’t infinite, money runs out. So until college, she was back in New York. Nina had been home for a few days, but today Mom and Dad had things to do, so her care was delegated to Aunte Riley. But she was busy too, which Nina didn’t know when she let herself into the penthouse.
Who was there, was Dewey, waiting for Dimitra to return home from her own plans. He was sitting on the couch watching Fixer Upper, his long body stretched out; totally at home there.
“Joanne isn’t gonna like you blowing out that wall, Chip!” Dewey yelled at the television. He didn’t hear the front door open.
Nina blinked, surprised when she walked in to someone she didn’t recognize yelling at HGtv.
“Oh wow. Hi?” She announced.
Dewey looked at the doorway, startled as well but he didn’t move his position.
“Hi...who are you?” He asked. She looked familiar in a vague way, but he couldn’t place a name to her face.
“I’m Nina Laughin. I thought this was my aunts place...?” She said slowly.
“Laughlin? Oh, you must be Jer and Roxanne’s kid. You got it, right. Come on in, Riley’s out but she should be back soon.” He explained waving her in.
Nina kicked the door shut behind her, observing the young man on the couch. He was...dreamy. She flushed slightly, admiring the sun kissed freckles on his face, the length of his body and even the mystery of his eyepatch. She moved toward the chair beside the sofa and eased into it, still side staring at him.
“D?” She said finally, in reference to the hand stitched letter on his eyepatch.
Dewey paused, still obsorbed in his show before acknowledging her.
“Oh, my patch. Yeah, my name is Dewey. D for Dewey, but Dimitra made it for me, so also D for Dimitra.” He explained, smitten at the memory of Dimitra making it for him.
“Cousin Dimitra, cool. Are you...her boyfriend?” Nina asked cautiously.
Dewey flushed then, he definitely considered her that way. He only had eyes for her, so they were kind of exclusive. But, not official or well, actually romantically involved.
“Uh no. We’re best friends though, I’m also her bodyguard.” He explained.
Nina couldn’t help but smile. So she had a chance then.
Nina was pretty bold, if she liked someone she was never afraid to pursue them. She had a couple flings in France but nothing serious, at least not to her. Nina felt confident in her ability to woo Dewey, nothing like coming home and snagging a man.
Dimitra and her sisters finished their sister date and they brought her back to the townhouse. She gave them a little wave and they gave little waves of encouragement back as the elevator closed its doors, taking them away. Dimitra sighed and turned to the door, knowing full well that Dewey would be inside and once she was also inside, they’d have to talk.
She reached for the door handle, braced herself, and then-she heard voices?
She furrowed her brow as one voice was blatantly Dewey, but the other she did not recognize the other one. She swung open the door then. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
Dimitra blinked, hardly recognizing the girl with Dewey. At first she thought it might’ve been one of his acquaintances, but after a moment of sharing, she realized it was her cousin.
“Nina? I thought you were still in France.” She said, closing he door behind her then. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“Oh...what are...what’re you doing here?” Dimitra asked, eyeing the closeness between the two. It wasn’t an absurd sort of closeness but it was too close for her. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“I was supposed to hang out with La Tante.” Nina answered. At some point Nina had migrated from the chair and was sitting by Dewey now on the couch. He wasn’t stretched out anymore, but Nina had pulled up her legs, so they weren’t very close but her knee was touching him.
“Yeah, I dunno were Riley is but I thought she could just wait here.” Dewey added.
“Mama said she had errands to run. She should be back soon. Did you want anything to drink? You can help yourself.” Dimitra said hurriedly. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
