"It's fine." Sophie asked, glancing at the phone curiously. "If you don't mind me asking, who is it you're texting? A boyfriend perhaps?" She asked.

On my way over for lunch. When will you have a break? The text read, followed by a picture of Adrik's hand holding up a bag from one of his and Asha's usual deli spots.

Adrik, Sophie’s here doing my interview. Asha texted back quickly.

“Uh it is my boyfriend. But I’d like to keep that aspect of my life private please.” Asha said, a bit nervously. She wasn’t really the type to hide much of anything.

"Oh? Can you at least tell us if it's someone we know? Another model perhaps?" Sophie asked with an interested brow raised.

Asha let out a nervous laugh.

“Ah no, he’s not a model. He could be though, if he wanted to.” Asha said, more serious on the end note.

"So he's handsome." Sophie smiled before reaching to cover the recorder. "Between just you and I, do you have any pictures you could show me?"

“I sure don’t!” Which was true, Asha use their time together to photograph. “I actually try to not be on my phone when we’re together.”

"Oh, well that's a shame. I would have loved to see him if he's half as handsome as-"

"Sorry, Asha, I was on my way over and I dropped my phone. The screen is totally shattered."

Sophie froze in her seat upon hearing a familiar voice coming up from behind her. She didn't have to turn around to know who it was.

Adrik.

Adrik came striding up to the two girls, hardly paying Sophie any mind as he approached. Instead he was frowning down at his badly shattered cellphone as he absentmindedly went over to Asha to bend down to peck affectionately at her forehead. It wasn't until then he caught sight of the second person sitting with Asha out of the corner of his eye.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-oh no." He immediately sputtered and his eyes grew almost as wide as Sophie's when he realized it was her sitting there with Asha.

Asha was completely still, from embarrassment and humility. She just should’ve said she was dating Adrik, it wouldn’t have been worse than this.

“Sophie, I am so sorry for not being transparent with you.” Asha began quickly.

Sophie stared as a bitter looking smile found it's way onto her lips, the kind that was not fueled by happiness or satisfaction, but rather the kind that was fueled by anger and resentment. She looked at Asha, shaking her head.

"Oh, no, it's fine. It's fine." SHe said, though it was clear it wasn't. "I mean, we only broke up, what, two months ago?"

"Sophie, please-" Adrik spoke and it was like a string had been pulled to taut and Sophie snapped.

"Shut up, Adrik. How long did you wait? I'm not guessing long." She spat angrily. She then looked to Asha. "How long?" She asked.

Asha wasn’t sure if she should lie or not, what would make things worse? But her stylists standing nervously to the side reminded her that she was at work and this was a professional setting.

“I don’t know that it’s my place to say, however we’re both on the clock. This isn’t an appropriate conversation to be having.” Asha tried to reason.

Sophie continued to stare, bitter, before nodding and going to grab her recorder, jamming it into her bag along with her notepad and pen.

"You're right. I'll go ahead and tell my senior editor that we'll be pulling the story. I'm sorry to have wasted your time." She scoffed before spinning on her heal and stomping off.

Adrik bit his lip, watching Sophie go, before turning to Asha.

"Asha, I'm so sorry. I didn't know she was here. I would...I'm sorry." Adrik said.

“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Asha shushed quickly. “It’s not important, I’ll just do some other promotional things to make up for the income. It was bound to happen eventually, right?” She shrugged a little, reaching to pet Adriks cheek.

"Don't worry about the income, I can help you with whatever needs to be paid." Adrik said, still guilty as he reached up to grab Asha's hand at his cheek. He pulled it away only so he could kiss at her palm.
