Emerson, having nothing "bad" to say about his parents, started to sign, "Great, lovely", but was cut off my Irving.
"Overbearing, over the top worried." He said.

Grey made a face as she read the room, she had a habit of being pretty casual about things even when they might not be appropriate conversation topics.
"I'm sorry I asked." She said, trying to think of something else to talk about. Grey was never good in an awkward situation. |

Noting hints of Grey's awkwardness, Emerson shook his head and gave a little flap of his hand.
"It's okay, seriously, it's alright." He assured before managing to his feet. "Can you come help me with dinner?" He offered an out by the way of request.

Emerson grinned and led Grey into the small kitchen. It didn't quite look like a kitchen someone would expect of a young bachelor with it's tidy look, healthy fruits, and abundant utensils (he even had MATCHING plates and bowls). He gestured for Grey to go over to where a loaf of unsliced bread sat. He went to the fridge to grab some butter and parmesean.
"We're going to make garlic bread." He said and signed as soon as he set everything down.

Emerson grinned as he reached for a serrated knife and sliced the bread in half, offering one half to Grey and kept the other for himself to demonstrate. He slathered on a good bit of butter and some garlic salt before topping it off with cheese. Once he was done, he waited for Grey to finish before signing to her.
"Did you go to class today?" He asked.

"Did you learn anything? What classes are you taking?" Emerson asked. Truth be told, he'd always wished to continue his education, but it was admittedly hard given his predicament.
