“I will.” Viktor nodded once more before going to safely situate Bernadette in his arms. He lifted her with ease, but didn’t let that make him any less careful as he began carrying her and baby B up the stairs. “You’re not hurting yet, are you?” He asked her.

“Don’t be scared, Bertie. I’m here and I won’t let anything bad happen to you or Baby B.” Viktor assured as he continued to haul Bernadette upstairs and to his mother’s old room that had more or less been converted into a guest room for whenever they made it out for a visit. He went right over to the bed and set Bernadette down before stepping back to help her out of her now soggy bottoms. “We’ll get you all situated and then I’ll call Peter and see how we can get him up here.” He said, trying to maintain a sense of calm.

“It’s all going to work out. You and sweet Baby B will be okay.” Viktor managed a smile as he pat at her knees assuringly. “I’m going to call Peter, okay? If you want, I can call Mama too to help out.”

Viktor gave her knees one more pat before getting up to retrieve his phone from his back pocket. He pulled it out and dialed for Peter’s home phone first, as that was his “professional” line for his supernatural clientele.

| Just as Bernadette had caught her breath and begun relaxing, she felt and unfamiliar pang in her lower abdomen. She let out a pained well, reaching quickly to caress her bulbous stomach. |

”Hello, you’ve reached the voicemail of Peter Malkovich. I will currently be out of town until the twenty-fifth. If you are a patient and are in need of immediate assistance, please call my partner in practice, Dai-“
Viktor immediately dropped his phone when Bernadette started yelling in agony, giving him no chance to even listen to the message that Peter left in full before he went to her.
His face was immediately filled with worry as he went to grab her hand.
“Bertie, breath, just breath. You’re okay, you’re okay.” He said, panicked.

| Bertie sucked in big breaths as if the bigger the breath would lessen the pain, no wonder her Mom couldn’t survive, this was agony. Bernadette rolled her head to the side, panting before letting out another elongated groan. |
