Roxanne never knew how cold it was this late into the night, she never stayed out this late. Surely she ‘worked’ late hours as a dancer, but she was never outside. She hugged her shawl close to her frame as she tip-toed hurriedly on cobblestone roads winding through and eventually, out of town. Her romance with Jer was nothing short of spectacular. She job entitled interacting with men on a regular basis, all of which of course tried to charm and woo her. All of which would fail, until she met Jeraud. Riley insisted that it was only because he was a werewolf, they only ever knew like two other werewolves. But Roxanne knew it was because he was her soulmate, she could feel it in all her bones and fingertips. He was her one, the one.

That’s why they were running away together.

She packed a light rucksack, only the bare essentials in it and the lace from her mother’s wedding dress should they elope. Her face was still painted from her earlier performances, her hair was a little disheveled from hiding under her shawl as well as from her brisk movements. Jer wouldn’t say why, but he did advise her to move with urgency when meeting up with him so she was doing just that. Roxanne wondered if Riley knew she had gone? Of course, Riley knew everything. Would she miss Roxanne? Maybe not, Roxanne wasn’t a great sister. But she couldn’t let regret hold her back, she was going to start a new life with Jeraud.

While jogging through the forest, the tree branches reached like claws and the dead moss under her feet urged her further and faster. It was scary now, but she’d feel better when she saw Jer.

Jer was anxiously pacing in the thick woodlands just bordering town as he awaited Roxanne. He knew this was a bold move, maybe even a dangerous move to some degree, but he knew, he felt it in his bones, that this was by all means a move necessary if he wanted to start a new life.

A better life.

It had been years, several decades even since Jer's life took the most perilous of turns and it wasn't until he met Roxanne that he felt as if a better means of living was within his reach. There was something about her that made him...better. She made him happy, she kept him grounded, she made him feel human again and that was a feat with all things considered.

However, there was talk that this happiness would allude him soon if he didn't make a run for it. Armand had mentioned it before that they were being pursued by someone. Thad had mentioned that it was someone who wanted them to atone for the wrongdoing they'd committed since banding together. While before Jer might have been indifferent to this, after all, what was his quality of life truly? But Roxanne was in his life now and that changed everything.

He knew compelling her to leave with him before he could be captured was risky, he wasn't even sure she'd actually show up tonight, but he knew he had to try. He wanted a life with her and if running was the only way he could get it, he'd run to the end of the world with her.

Roxanne was panting, sprinting now because she could smell Jer's scent being carried on the wind as it rustled her hair. She was worried that he would leave without her, hopefully he could smell her too. But there was something else in the air tonight? Unable to put her finger on it, she ignored it.

"Bien-aime!" Roxanne called, barely above a whisper as she could see his figure coming into view.

Jer whirled around when he heard Roxanne call for him. As always, he could feel his heart racing and a smile instantly dancing it's way across his lips. He opened his arms wide for her as she quickly approached.

"Mon amour!" He called back to her.

Roxanne came barreling down the hill, she could feel tears of happiness prick her cheeks. Somehow she felt almost home free just by seeing him there and running into his arms.

"I was worried you would decide not to come." Jer admitted in a murmur as he instantly buried his face into her hair upon taking her into his arms.

Roxanne nestled her face into his neck, smiling as she clung to him.

"Nothing would keep me away." She breathed.

"Good...good." Jer breathed, smiling himself. He placed a delicate peck to the side of Roxanne's head before pulling away, cupping her cheek for a moment as he looked down at her. "Do you have what you need, mon amour?"

Roxanne smiled softly before speaking, "You're all I need. But I have a couple other essentials already, yes." She laughed lightly before reaching for his hand.

"Good, then we should get moving. There's a train station in the next town over. We can make it by morning, I'm sure." Jer explained, giving Roxanne's hand a squeeze. He wasn't sure where they were going exactly, but he knew he'd go anywhere with her.

"I'm ready, just lead the way. Allons-y" She nodded, glancing over her shoulder briefly to say goodbye to her 'home' town.

Jer watched Roxanne turn to face the town. Part of him wanted to remind her that she didn't have to come, part of him didn't want to risk that, but mostly, he was confident that Roxanne wouldn't be here unless she genuinely wanted to be with him. So, he let Roxanne give her town a bittersweet goodbye before giving her hand a squeeze.

"Let's hurry, mon amour." He said to her.

Jer led Roxanne and himself down the road for hardly much time at all when he began feeling extremely uneasy by the all too uncommon traffic that appeared to be on the road. For some reason, he almost felt as if everyone were looking at them. Eventually he turned to Roxanne and gestured towards the woodlands.

"Let's cut through here, hmm?" He suggested.

Roxanne glanced between paths before looking back to Jer. "Yeah, I guess. Is everything okay?" She asked, brows furrowing.
