“Cousins?” Sal asked, leaning forward then with an intrigued squint of his eyes, scrutinizing the other twin boys. While the other boys didn’t look much like Sal or any of his siblings, he could see the same tilt in their dark eyes and broad shouldered build as Navrik or even himself. “Whose older? Us or them?”
“Salomao, not now.” Havania tutted as she led Romulus by the hand to the kitchen table. She caught a glimpse of Lucinda and the first aid kit and flapped her hand to call her over. She turned Romulus’s hand this way and that before smiling softly at him in a way that appeared to almost shock him. “It isn’t too bad, but you should still let me clean it and wrap it for you.” She looked to Remus then, noting his scuffs as well. “I’ll get you both patched up, but maybe you could tell your uncle what happened?” _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“I...I’m not sure. I don’t think it’s important though, they’re our guests though. Please give them space and be respectful.” Navrik explained, unsure of which set of twins came first. His or his sisters.
Remus sort of jolted at the sudden acknowledgment. He wasn’t expecting to be spoke too, he never was. He immediately looked to his brother, for an answer, or to observe how to gage the situation. Neither boy was confident in their social skills. But Romulus got to do a little more, Remus was often punished by being secluded from others, so he looked to his twin often for guidance on just about anything.
“It’s okay. We don’t have to talk about it, at least not right now.” Navrik was quick to reassure, offering Remus a soft smile.
“I think they’re older.” Lucinda answered, “I’ve seen that one, try talking to Remy and Arte before.” Lucinda said, pointing at Romulus. She did leave out that she and Arte were out at a bar they absolutely shouldn’t have been at, under the supervision of Remedy.

Romulus went to reply on his and his twin's behalf, but stopped short when the petite curly haired girl dropped Remedy's name. He immediately looked to her and tried to place her face, only finding a vague recollection of her being at the gathering where he'd first "met" Remedy. He had been trying to talk to Artemis, the younger Laughlin girl, because his father had insisted that she be his target, but he couldn't get to her because of Remedy...and the girl standing there now. He hadn't known then that was his cousin.
"I...I've been seeing Remedy for a bit now. Its part of the reason...this happened." He spoke slowly.
Havania was taking out some materials when she glanced up with a quirked brow, not understanding.
Romulus looked to her and then to Navrik.
"I'm sure you remember how it is." His voice was quiet then, as if speaking his parent's horrid treatment would somehow summon them there right then. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“I do.” Navrik nodded before sitting down at the table beside Romulus, slowly and carefully as to not startle him. “Loving someone, is a dangerous thing to do in her presence.” He said in simple explanation.
Navrik’s expression was soft and understanding. He had risked a lot in his life trying to seek any time of companionship. It brought Navrik a lot of fear, and lost of a lot of sleep over keep her and their way of life safe. But it was so worth it, he’d die happily for her. Loving her was worth everything.
“I do it again though. One hundred more times. It will always be worth it.” He added.
Havania's face softened even more as understanding came to her. These boys had been forced out because Romulus, at least, had fallen in love, and that was not allowed. She knew then that her husband and their nephews had even that in common.
"Listen, you two did a brave thing, leaving a place like that for something like love. I promise me and your uncle will do what we can to make things better for you from here on out." She soothed, patting softly at the back of Romulus's hand. "We can start by patching you up, getting you something to eat, and giving you a place to rest for as long as you need." She said, looking to Navrik then. "We could use Asha's room for them to sleep in." _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“I’ll get the room set up, it’s just the one bed in there but I assume it’ll still be comfortable enough. Lucinda, do you want to heat up tonight’s leftovers for them?” Navrik asked over his shoulder, standing up from his seat.
“Sure.” Lucinda nodded and padded over to the fridge, unloading various Tupperware from the fridge.
"Godric, go get a few extra pillows and blankets from the linen closet, please? And Sal, Neran, go get a few shirts of yours, maybe some pants too." Havania said, noting that her twins and the others were at least closer in size than Godric and Owen.
"Why our clothes?" Sal groused with a pursed lip.
"O-oh. It's okay, honest. We're okay." Romulus tried to sputter, not accustomed to something like this. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
"It's nothing extra, I promise." Havania assured before giving Sal a warning look. "Salomao. Shirts. Now." She said with that typical motherly scorn in her scolding.
"I guess I probably have some shirts to spare." Sal huffed as he turned to go gather up some clothes with his twin.
"I made plenty of food tonight, but if nothing suits your taste, I'm more than happy to whip up something else." Havania said, though judging from the looks of them, she was sure they'd eat just about whatever was placed in front of them at the moment. They didn't look emaciated or sickly, but they didn't look quite well either in their physique. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
"Water. Please." Romulus said, also quiet and meek as he watched Havania dab his cuts clean before bandaging them up for him.
Some of the cuts on Romulus's person didn't need much more than being dabbed clean, not even requiring a bandaid, but Havania took care of all the ones that needed cleaning on both Romulus and his twin. Romulus was reluctant, but allowed himself to start eating only when his twin was done being fussed over as well. While he was sure he could trust Navrik and his family more than his own, he was still on edge from having grown up in the Navares household. He couldn't be distracted with food, no matter how enticing it smelled, in the unlikely event they tried to do something to Remus.
"Um...Navrik...how long did our mo...how long did Natas follow you after you left?" He asked as he pushed some beans away from a little roll sopping up the liquid on the plate. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“Me? Well...decades. She chased me across battlefields because she could. But, she can be unpredictable. Your best case scenario is that she loses interest in you.” Navrik explained in a sort of matter of fact kind of way. “There’s more of you though, right? You have other siblings?” He asked.
Romulus felt his heart give an anxious and also bitter squeeze at not only the notion that Natas and Armand might pursue them for years to come, but also that maybe...they would not at all. He knew his life and Remus's weren't held in high regard, but there was still sting in that thought.
"Yes. A younger brother and a sister. She was the one who chased us down." He explained. _________________ Butts n' butts n' butts n' butts.
“Chased you? For ‘them’?” Navrik asked, by them he meant Natas and Armand. “Is she determined? Do you think she’s follow your here?” He asked.
Navrik knew Natas could be unpredictable, most of her decisions made on varying whims depending if she cared or if there was something in it for her. But he wondered if there was a guarantee they’d have to anticipate anyone else.
