“I think Mom might have blinders.” Mishka said before letting out a sigh. “But I suppose since Dad’s foregone all common sense and let him into our home somebody should be out there to keep him in line.” He set his task aside and stood up then.

Toma jumped a little once he saw Mishka. He knew that Mishka was the one to impress this weekend. But he was also the one who shot him, not that it was totally unwarranted, but you know, ptsd.
“H-hi, Mishka!” Toma sputtered. |

"Mama, is dinner done? Do you still need help?" He asked.

“Yeah, get your Uncle Toma a glass of water for his pills.” Valentina didn’t miss a beat. She was notoriously a cool mom, laid back and fun with her kids. But she was still their Mom, and Toma was her brother. Besides feeling protective of her brother, Mishka ‘knew better.’
“He doesn’t have to do that!” Toma waved his hands. “I can get it!” He continued to sputter.
“No, you’re family. And a guest. It’s the polite thing to do.” Valentina said carefully. |

"Not my family." Mishka grumbled under his breath, though he wasn't one to disobey his mother so he went to grab a glass of water.
He grabbed a glass, filled it, and returned to the entryway, thrusting the water towards Toma. He didn't look at the other man, but his jaw was firmly set with a scowl to indicate his sour feelings for his uncle.

"Toma, why don't you and Valentina go sit in the living room? I'll put your bag in the guest room. Val, what needs to be done for dinner still? I'll help out in the kitchen with the kids." Rundin offered.
Mishka had gone to try and go back to his room, but Rundin quickly got him by catching his shoulder in one hand, not breaking his gaze towards Toma and Valentina.

Mihai didn't need nearly as much coaxing or direction. He eyed his father and brother carefully as he moved over to the dinning area to help get the table set.
"You're hamming it up pretty good, brother." Mihai commented at Mishka. |
