“Yeah, we should.” Ava sighed in agreement. “Maybe you can come back with me Sunday? I want to do it before our next appointment, which is coming up.” Ava suggested.

She was dreading telling her parents, but she felt confident about where her and Han were sitting. It would be hard and it was pretty much guaranteed her parents would be furious. But she’d been budgeting, stockpiling, researching and scheduling all her appointments. So they certainly couldn’t use that against her.

Han perked up, pleasantly surprised.

"Absolutely. I'll switch shifts with one of the twins so I can be off early and everything." He grinned. "Should I get dressed up? To look like the good and eager future son-in-law?"

Ava was always attracted to Han, in every way possible. But since finding out he was going to be a father, he was downright adorable. She reached across to pinch his cheek affectionately.

“Maybe, but still wear a good pair of running shoes.” She chuckled.

"I don't think I could outrun your mom or your dad even if I tried." Han chuckled, seemingly hardly bothered by the possibility of Ava's parents actually reacting badly to the news. "I'll try to have a good exit route in mind though."

"He wouldn't dare. I eat too much kimchi and red pepper paste. I'd definitely upset his stomach." Han joked. "But, really, I think it'll be fine, sweet cheeks. We've got the goods to show them. We've been extra responsible and would be ready if baby decided to show up next week." He gave a confident smile and shrug.

“Well, not that ready, but I get your point.” Ava said with a soft smile, settling back into her seat. “If baby came next week, she’d need a lot of extra care. It would be expensive with insurance. So let’s try to keep her baking for as long as possible.”

“I’m sure that suits her just fine. She has a pretty good set up with Mama carrying her around all day and all she can eat takis.” Han smiled. “So stay in there awhile longer, princess. Dad will make sure you and Mama are well fed.”

Ava couldn’t help but smile widely, Han was definitely going to be a good dad.

“I love you.” She said with a smile. She couldn’t fathom doing this with anyone else, or expect someone sweeter or more attentive.

"Yeah, well I love you more." Han chuckled. He felt similarly about their situation. He'd never anticipated becoming a parent, but now that the task was set in front of him, not only was he eager, he was confident that he would do well as long as he was doing it with Ava. "Now, hurry up and eat. I want to get in bed and talk some more with my girls."

Some time had passed and things were falling into place. Ava and Han had collected lots of baby things that had now been carefully stored or set up in the bedroom at his apartment. The doctors appointment Ava had had was good, the baby appeared healthy and right on track, she was even beginning to show. Now, the daunting part, telling her family.

Ava was due to graduate soon, and they were sitting on some small savings and plenty of supplies, she hoped there wasn’t too much to be upset about. But, it was her and Han, Ava made waves and the constant sneaking in and out didn’t make anyone more sweet on Han. But it couldn’t be avoided any longer, Ava arranged for a family dinner, inviting Han of course so they could deliver the news and face the music together. It was preferred though that no one else be there in case there was..Any carnage. Calloway and Romano were easy enough to shoo out of the house with their respective partners. But poor single Venturo needed to be bought, Ava paid him handsomely so he could treat himself to dinner and a movie.

This was a little more work than Ava had hoped it would be, but she was trying to do it right. Her siblings were gone, Romulus was inside and cooking dinner. Remedy had gotten home a little bit ago and was inside showering before dinner after a long day at the shop. That left Ava to wait, perched on the porch, waiting for Han to arrive. Her attire was mostly normal, high pony and big hoop earrings, paired with a little rhinestone stud in her nose. She was wearing more dresses these days to conceal her changing figure but they weren’t too loose or snug, they didn’t actually conceal or reveal much. It mostly looked like Ava had just put on a little weight, which she of course didn’t mind.

Han hadn't particularly cared for Ava's decision to keep her pregnancy a secret from her parents, so needless to say he was relieved that they were finally letting things come to light with their dinner announcement. He was sure that Romulus and Remedy would be upset, after all, they were young and Ava was still in school even, but Han was willing to take his lashes. He was willing to take all the good and the bad that came with the prospect of becoming a father and the bits leading up to it.

He had gotten off work early so he could go home and clean up before heading over to Ava's family home. He'd brought a box of honeyed rice cakes in hopes of buttering up her folks, though Romulus was hardly sweet on him even on a good day. He'd borrowed a short sleeved button down with a repeating graphic of some churchy renaissance painting from Olezka and was wearing it over a clean white shirt and black denims. He wasn't dressed up by any means, though he hardly "dressed down" on any occasion.

He came jogging up to the house from the bus stop down the street where he'd been let out and instantly lit up when he saw Ava perched outside waiting for him.

"Hey, where's your sweater? It's chilly!" He called out to her, lightly scolding her as he was more prone to do these days.

Ava smiled as she saw Han running up to the house, it sort of made her happy the way he fawned over her. Ava was tough but liked to be spoiled and doted on too.

“Is it cold? Come warm me up then.” She challenged with a grin.

Han grinned at the challenge and came bounding up the sidewalk and up the wobbly steps of the front stoop. He immediately scooped Ava up off her feet, hooking his arms under her bottom.

“Don’t have to ask me twice.” He grinned as he leaned to kiss Ava firmly.

Ava let out a giddy sort of giggle shriek as Han scooped her up. She threw her arms around his shoulder and allowed herself to be kissed, though she did light scold him; tapping his cheek playfully.

“Careful, precious cargo.” She said, though she smiled still.
