Bernadette’s ears were hot, something in that sentence made her heart skip a beat.

About a week had passed since everything went down with Ed and Ross and Bertie. Ed had been keeping a low profile since the transaction had occurred, but it was time to get back to work. He posted up outside, still wearing one of Bertie’s sweaters, posted up with his sign that read, homeless and hungry, anything helps. he wasn’t too far from The Society, keeping an eye out for his next target.

He was new to the game , Bertie was the first person he really got to know before handing them off. He was remorseful, and he did lose sleep over it. But the money was good, he just had to remember to not get attached this time.

Though Viktor Nikitin technically worked for his “malicious” mob boss of a father and was the hardest hitting member of the high school’s wrestling team, there was never a time that he could remember inflicting, or even wishing, violence on someone else.

But all the situation that brought him and several members of the Nikitin monster family to the neighborhood to the neighborhood surrounding The Society was one that not only made his blood boil, but also made him wish to inflict serious harm on the one responsible.

He and the rest of the Nikitins had their ears to the ground after what had been done to Bernadette. While she wasn’t blood, she was clearly important to Viktor and a member of their society, so the Nikitins had taken it upon themselves to look after her, or, rather, look out for the rat of a man who tried to sell her. So, when a little bird told Sasha that there was a man fitting Ed’s description, he made a call and in no time at all not only did some Nikitin footsoldiers make it to the neighborhood, but Viktor did as well. Sasha had told him Ed had been seen near The Society and Viktor was searching the area with intent. He sniffed at the air, catching and following faint scents, until he finally caught something with certainty.

And then, eventually, he followed that scent right to Ed.

He rounded a corner and get his eyes immediately light with rage.

“You.” He growled as he took quicker and lengthier strides towards the other man.

Ed hadn't noticed Viktor right away, not until he was almost on him. He dropped his sign and turned on his heel; running. And weaving through traffic. Viktor always seemed kind and gentle around Bernadette, but Ed expected he wouldn’t be feeling that way anymore. Sliding over the hood of a taxi and narrowly missing a bike courier, he raced through alleyways and scrambling up a fire escape. While he felt bad about Bernadette and wasn’t surprised that Viktor would be looking for revenge, he didn’t want to die.

As soon as Ed started to run, so did Viktor. He bolted through the crowd and when Ed ran into the street, he followed. While Ed dove over cars, Viktor didn’t have to be nearly as graceful as cars were simply unwilling to hit the beast of a boy.

Edmund didn’t have a game plan, he hoped to lose Viktor on the fire escape. But Viktor was hot on his heels and he had nowhere to go but up, stranding him on the rooftop.

Viktor hauled himself with ease up the fire escape in hot pursuit of Ed. As soon as they were both on the rooftop, he rushed the other man, grabbing him harshly by the back of his sweater. With one easy movement, he spun Ed around, showing him the amber glow of his eyes and the points of newly sharpened canines.

"Did you think we wouldn't find you?" He growled.

“No! Yes? I dunno!” Ed yelped and sputtered in Viktors grasp. He desperately kicked his feet and tried to pull away, scraping at Viktors hands helplessly.

"After what you did to Bernadette, there wasn't even a chance I'd let you get away." Viktor snarled, teeth snapping. "I should do to you what they tried to do to her."
