Viktor had had friends before, but this was the first time he’d ever really had someone over, let alone a girl. It hadn’t taken much persuading for his parents to extend the invitation, but Viktor still treated the whole ordeal like a major victory.

He was currently bouncing around the dining room table, making sure it was all set up and ready for dinner. While his mom had simply ordered take-out from their usual place, she was currently putting it into the finer serving dishes they had to make it look nice. Adrik had promised to make it to dinner, but he’d texted to let Viktor and Asha know he’d be a little late. A little late was decidedly better than unable to make it at all.

“Mama, next time can we have Papa Navrik and Mama Havania come? I want Bernadette to try Mama Havania’s cheesy pao.” He said as he straightened a place setting.

Asha was helping set the table, putting down big serving dishes and transferring the take out onto them. She was smiling contently to herself, Viktor didn’t really bring home friends let alone a girl, so she was feeling e can and soft that Viktor had a lady friend coming over.

“We can certainly try to arrange that. I’m sure Mama (Havania) would be happy to do that for you guys.” Asha nodded. “Maybe if it’s okay with Bernadette’s family she can come with us to Aurora one of these times.” Asha offered before looking up at the sound of soft tapping at the door.

Viktor's whole face lit up as his head swiveled towards the door. He broke off in his clumsy gallop, nearly knocking a vase off a little table in the front hallway as he approached the door. He flung open the door with his typical vigor and beamed down at Bernadette.

"Bernadette! You made it! You look nice." Viktor beamed as he looked down at her.

“Oh hi, thank you. I wasn’t sure what to wear.” Bernadette admitted but with a friendly smile upon seeing him.

"This is fine, you look nice." Viktor beamed before stepping aside to let her in. "We don't dress up around here unless it's a special occasion, except Mama. Mama always dresses nice." He nodded.

Bernadette stepped inside, uttering a thank you as she did so.

“Your moms a model, right?” Bernadette asked, seeming to remember that coming up previously.

“I am,” Asha answered, appearing from around the corner. “You must be Bernadette, thank you for joining us tonight.” Asha greeted, smiling sweetly.

Bernadette’s eyes could’ve turned into stars. She cupped her own cheeks in awe.

“Holy smokes! Viktor, your Mom is so beautiful!” Bernadette exclaimed before pulling herself together and nodding at Asha. “Thank you very much for inviting me!”

Asha tossed her head back and laughed at how impossibly adorable the girl before her was, she also loved the flattery.

“Oh aren’t you sweet! You’re beautiful too.” Asha smiled.

Viktor's chest puffed out proudly as a bright expression painted his features. He couldn't be more pleased that his mom and Bernadette were starting off on the right foot.

"My papa is handsome too, you won't even believe it, Bernadette. He'll be happy to meet you too when he gets home." Viktor chattered.

“He is, Viktor looks quite a bit like him too.” Asha nodded in agreement. “Let’s all sit at the table, hm? Adrik should be here soon and we can get started.”

Viktor plodded ahead as he had a tendency to do, nearly knocking down the same vase as before. He caught it just in time and shot Bernadette a sheepish grin over his shoulder before continuing on to the dining room. He waited for Bernadette and pulled out a chair for her.

Bernadette giggled a bit, she found Viktors clumsy galloping endearing. She uttered another thank you before sitting down in the chair Viktor had pulled out for her. Asha couldn’t be prouder, smiling to herself seeing she raised a perfect gentlemen. Even if Viktor couldn’t go two minutes without knocking something over.

"You're welcome." Viktor beamed before going to do the same for Asha, pulling her chair out for her. "Mama, did Papa text you or anything? Do you think he's on his way home?"

“I know he said he’d be running late, do you want to call him?” Asha asked.

"That won't be necessary."

Viktor's face lit up as he turned to see his father entering the dining room after having sneaked in right behind everyone. Just like Asha had said, Adrik and Viktor both bore a great resemblance to each other, though where Adrik's face was long and foxlike, there was something about Viktor's face that made him look less cunning and far more sweet.

Adrik made a beeline for his wife, stooping over to place a peck at her cheek.

"Sorry, I had to stop by my office to clean up a bit. Got a little dirty on the job." He admitted before looking over to Bernadette then. He smiled a smile so like Viktor's that it was obvious where the younger Nikitin got it from. "And you must be Bernadette. It's so nice to meet you." He said as he approached her seat and offered his hand out.

“Dirty? I hope you washed your hands.” Bernadette cheesed before shaking his hand. “Nice to meet you, Sir. Thank you for having me.” Bernadette thanked with the same sincerity as when she thanked Asha.

"Of course. We're glad you could make it so we could finally meet you. Viktor never stops talking about you." Adrik chuckled as he proceeded to go take a seat beside his wife. "I was beginning to wonder if you could fly since he makes you sound so amazing."

"Paaapaa." Viktor flushed a bit, though he still smiled.
