Lazlo was caught off guard by the sudden blip, but while it was surprising and never pleasant, he managed to stay on his feet, though he had reached up to clutch at Amulius's arms for a better grip as he still swayed.

Amulius rested them onto the pavement, but allowed Lazlo to hold onto him for stability as many often did.

“You okay?” He asked, looking down at him. “Sorry, I got excited.”

"I'm fine. I'm actually glad you're excited, I am too. I'm just no good at blipping." Lazlo said with a laugh as he composed himself. He looked up at Amulius, still smiling. "So you really want to do this? You want to get us some more babies?"

“Of course, raising Norah with you has been everything; Buck too.” Amulius said, unusually tender for him so he had to finish it with a carefree shrug.

"Shucks, you make it sound like you like us or something." Lazlo teased lightly before standing on his tip toes, as he always had to, to place a firm smooch at Amulius's lips. "Should we go in and get those babies?"

Amulius bit back a smile, “you took the call. Lead the way.” He replied, reaching down to hold Lazlos hand.

Lazlo gladly took up Amulius's hand and gave it a squeeze before striding forward into the building.

"Hello! Please direct us to family services!" He shouted as soon as they entered the lobby, excited and being a Maniac making him just a little bit inappropriate.

There was a woman working at the front desk who looked surprised by the sudden pandemonium. After jumping in her seat she took a breath pointed them towards the elevator, instructing them on what floor to get out at.

Upstairs, Nina was filing her perfectly manicured nails at her desk as the officer continued to struggle with the babies. No longer bundled in safety blankets, the twins tried to toddle off in different directions. They both had one white loaner onesies and socks, one onesie marked on the chest with an “F,” and the other an “M,” so not to confuse them. They both were fair in complexion with dark hair, short and fitted to their heads. The backs of their onesies were cut out for comfort, revealing that they both had little wings. Much like freshly hatched birds, they were small and mostly featherless. The feathers that were there were sparse but fluffy, thankfully too small to do any flying as their fat little legs stomped away and away again from then officer.

Lazlo and Amulius headed up the elevator, hand and hand still with Lazlo grinning like a fool. Though this was certainly not how he expected his day to go, he was more than pleased that this was indeed the way it was going.

They got off at the appointed floor and headed into the open space that was the main lobby for the family services department. There were several cubicle clusters behind the receptionist desk, most of which were empty. On one side of the floor there seemed to be several offices with only occupied at the moments if the drawn curtains and lights on were any indication.

Lazlo immediately went over to the desk and knocked his knuckles on it before the girl working there.

"Hello, I'm Lazlo, you called me about some kids?" He said to the girl.

Nina blew a bubble with her gum before reaching into her desk to pull out some paperwork.

“I assumed you’d call first, but I guess this is better.” She began. “They’re running around her somewhere.” She added, just as the officer came around the corner.

He was bent over, trying to catch one of the twins while he had another wrestled in his arms. Amulius didn’t hesitate, bending down and catching the rogue twin and scooping them up with ease.

“Well hello,” he crooned.

Lazlo had grabbed a pen and was poised to start the paperwork, but dropped it all when the toddlers and officer came around the corner. He went to join his husband and looked over the little one in his arms before turning to face the officer.

"Gimme 'em." He said, reaching out to relieve the officer of the tot. "Look at you guys...what happened to you, huh?" He spoke to the twins, but the question more directed at the officer honestly.

The officer sighed with relief as he handed the other twin over, both of which seemed more relaxed or at least less fussy in their arms.

“We aren’t sure on the whole story. An apartment building caught fire, it’s not for sure if it was a premeditated thing. We’re waiting on more information, but the doctors checked them out and remarkably there’s no damage to their lungs from the smoke.” The officer explained.

"And no signs of their folks?" Lazlo asked, looking up at the officer then.

“The, Uh- bodies were recovered, they did not survive. We’re working on a next of kin, but no info on that front at that time.” The officer explained.

"I see." Lazlo frowned sympathetically as he looked down at the tot in his arms and then the tot in Amulius's. "Do we know their names at all?" He asked.
