It had been about a month and a half since Grey and Emerson found out about their affectionately labeled "potato" and just a few days ago their doctor (or rather Grey's doctor) gave them the "go-ahead" to start telling family and friends, so to speak, as they were in a safe place in the pregnancy where there was less chance of incident.

There were only a handful of people who really needed to know and of those few, Irving already knew. Really, the only people who needed other than him were their parents and since Grey's parents didn't live in the immediate locale, they decided to tell Emerson's parents, which he was more than excited to do so.

They had decided to walk to the house, since it was only a brisk little jaunt, and the whole way Emerson was all grins as he clutched to Grey's hand.

Grey had heard some, varied, things about Emerson and Irvings parents. She had only met them once, but they were actually very polite to her. Still, that being said the image of her own parents fogged her mind. She wanted badly to be excited, and often she was, but she couldn't shake her parents voices from her head. Her Dad worked in the robotics division at NASA and her Mother worked for Google; they were already let down she didn't go to a UC (because she could have). And even more let down that she's a music major, even though she could've been something else, something 'closer to them.' She swallowed the lump in her throat and raised her chin, in this case, there's nothing Emerson's parents could say that would be worse than what her parents WILL say.

She squeezed his hand and feigned a smile.

"Are you excited?" She asked him.

Emerson turned when he felt the hand squeeze and lit up at the question.

"I ahm." He nodded giddily. "Yoo?"

Grey had a thoughtful expression before nodding somewhat. "I am, I'm anxious too though. How do you think they'll react?" She asked.

"Mm..I dun mow, buh we fahnd out soon." Emerson shrugged. He hadn't really thought about his parents' reaction, he was just happy about the situation on a personal level. He was happy he was going to be a dad, he was happy Grey was going to be a momma, he was just...happy.

Grey made a slight face, but maybe Emerson had the right mindset? She should just be happy and positive in the now. She smiled then and nodded in agreement.

"Right. Whatever happens, this kid won the lottery." Grey boasted positively.

Emerson nodded in agreement as they came up to the Wallace family home, not even so much as stopping at the front door as he let himself in. As soon as they were in the entry hallway, Emerson reached out to flick the hall lights on and off, his customary announcement.

Nothing was said, but footsteps could be heard (not by Emerson) as they shuffled from the kitchen. Grace poked her head out from the dining room area where she was exiting and gave a smile and wave.

"Emerson, Grey, glad you could come." She signed, of course forgoing the sign name for Grey Emerson had made. She didn't think she was that cute.

"Thank you for having us, well, me at least." Grey said aloud and signed as well with a smile and gracious nod.

"Mm, you're welcome." Grace said, trying not to sound too bitter. To say she wasn't fond of Grey's involvement with Emerson was an understatement. She felt that there had to beulterior motive.

Grey feigned a smile, she was sensing that perhaps Grace wasn't fond of her afterall. But, she pressed on, trying to remain positive. Surely she was just being paranoid, she didn't have a reason to not like her? They met once, Grey took care of Emerson after the accident, she works and pulls her own weight and graduating early; what could be wrong with her?

"Can I help with anything?" She asked then, emerging from the entryway.

"No, dinner's cooked. We were just waiting on you two." Grace said and signed.

"Sorry, it was nice, so we wanted to walk." Emerson signed in their defense, so to speak.

"It's okay. Let's just sit down and eat. You said there was something you wanted to share with us." Grace spoke/signed. She surmised that perhaps they were announcing Grey was moving in with him, something along those lines, but she didn't suspect the actual nature of the announcement.

Grey wasn't sure if she was sweating or if it was just internal. Grace was certainly not one to beat around the bush. Grey swallowed the lump in her throat before doing as she was told, taking her seat at the table beside Emerson.

Irving was already sitting at the table with Benjamin, both making "awkward" (white people) conversation. Irving looked up and instantly brightened somewhat (though he'd never admit it) when he saw Grey and Emerson.

"Hey, what's up, ugly, glad to see you made it finally." He teased Grey, earning a look from Grace, though he was far beyond her "looks" affecting him.

Grey was actually able to smile and let out a laugh, she felt better that Irving was here.

"Yeah, sorry took so long. Had to admire the scenery on the way here." She spoke and signed.

"Liar. I bet you stopped a lot because you were making out and being gross." Irving teased, earning a swat from Grace then.

"Irving, that's not dinner conversation." She scolded before taking her own seat. "Anyway...Grey, we've met before, but...we don't know you, honestly. So, tell us. What is it that you do exactly? Tell us about yourself." She said, sounding eager and ready to judge as she began serving everyone up.
