"Do you think you're ready?" Shika asked Wyla. He held one of Bixley's hand as they walked up the front porch steps to a quaint yellow house.

Shika's parents were in town and he thought it would be appropriate if they met. Since his parents lived on base in Japan they weren't in the states very often, and Shika saw a future with Wyla. So, no time like the present for them to meet his perfect girl. He had sort of 'dressed up' for the location by putting on real pants and a button up. Although his parents didn't mind what he wore, his Dad was consistently unimpressed with him whatever he put on and his Mom blew rainbows out of his butt. Every parent has a favorite.

"I mean, yes and no. What if they don't like me? I mean...Shika, these are your parents, girlfriends come and go but parents...they're forever, if you catch my drift." Wyla said, taking a deep, anxious breath as she walked along with Shika and Bixley.

In truth, she was very frightened of making a terrible first impression with Shika's parents, but more than anything, as of late, Wyla had been a bundle of nerves anyhow. A bundle of nerves with a constantly sick stomach to boot.

"Oh god, if they don't like me, I swear, Shika, I'm going to throw up on them." Wyla admitted.

"They'll love you." Shika smiled assuringly. "Is you stomach still upset?" He asked, she mentioned throwing up but she'd been doing some of that recently already.

"A little, but, I'll live. Maybe." Wyla nodded.

Bixley gave Shika's hand a tug.

"Shika, we seeing your Mommy and Daddy?" She chirped at him.

"Yes we are Bix. Can you knock on the door to let them know we're here?" Shika asked her.

"Yih." Bixley nodded, ever eager to be helpful. She pulled away from Shika and Wyla and trotted up to the door, knocking vigorously. "Hello! Shika's Mom, Shika's Dad! You there?"

"Oh my gosh, they're here!" A voice gleefully rejoiced on the other side of the door.

It was Shika's Mom of course, Hanajima. She was quite beautiful, tall with long black hair. Aside from being youthful looking (she had the twins young so) there wasn't any very notable traits perhaps other than the beauty mark on the side of her nose.

"Hello, hello, please come in." She beamed after opening the door. She had an accent, but her English was very good and she appear confident in it.

"Mamma, it's good to see you." Shika grinned as he let go of Bixley's hand to hug his Mother. He was without a doubt his Mom's favorite and she was definitely his as well, a complete Mommas boy.

"Oh so these are the girls I've been hearing about all this time. Now, which one is, Bixley?" Hana asked, only looking for acknowledgment from the little one.

"That's me!" Bixley raised her hand and bounced in place. "Yous pretty...like Shika." She added.

Wyla gave a relieved exhale when Shika's mother seemed so welcoming. Maybe this would be fine.

"Oh why thank you, but you're the prettiest I think. And you know what else? I knew you were coming, so I brought a gift for you." Hana smiled as she reached to grab a gift bag that had been sitting on the entryway table. "I hope you like it, it's very popular back home." She added before handing it to Bixley (it has a big stuffed Pusheen in it).

Bixly promptly flopped onto the floor and dug into the bag. She pulled out the stuffed cat and let out a loud gasp, looking up to Hana.

"I love him." She said, plain and simple.

"Tell her thank you, baby girl." Wyla urged, watching Bixley with a smile, a bit relieved that Hana seemed so welcoming.

"You're welcome." Hana smiled before looking to Wyla and bowing her head. "You're obviously Wyla, welcome, we're so glad to finally meet you." She said.

"Thank you, it's nice to meet you." Wyla said, bobbing her head slightly as well. "Shika talks about you all the time." She said.

"Oh I'm sure he does, all good things I hope." She smiled still before looking over her shoulder into the kitchen. "Well kids, I hope you're hungry, Dad's been slaving over that stove all evening."

"Of course, of course." Wyla said, choking back a slight gag when she felt her nausea sneaking up on her. She reached down and gently pat at Bixley to coax her into getting up and moving.

"Great, well let's go ahead and get you guys seated." Hana smiled, not noticing anything going on with Wyla as she stepped into the kitchen.
