"Yeah, I mean, we live with my parents for the time being since it's convenient, but Bixley's...well, father, sperm donor, whatever you want to call him, he's never been in the picture." Wyla gave a little shrug. "I came back to live with my parents when I found out I was pregnant with her and we've all lived together since. It's nice since they can take care of her when I have to work and Bixley loves all the time she gets to spend with her Pop-Pop and Nan."

"Oh that's too bad." Shika said, voice trailing off for a moment as he rubbed the back of his neck. He could see out of the corner of his eye that Wyla was looking at him and he was beginning to lose his nerve. But it was now or never (or so he was telling himself).

"Um...So..." He began, not sounding too confident. "Would I be able...?" He cleared his throat then before trying to sound more sure of himself. "I'd like to take you out to dinner."

Wyla's face lit up slightly, but she didn't want to seem too eager and scare Shika off. She bit at her lip to fight back a smile.
