Aslan shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He didn’t know what to say, how could Bernadette still care for him so much when she felt like a stranger to him.
“I’m...I’m sorry to hear that.” Aslan began. “But...I know Bernadette is quite resilient, she’ll overcome.” He nodded. |

“Of course I’d stay with her, but she didn’t ask for me, she asked for you. And, besides that, I just told you she was hurt, don’t you care enough to at least go check on her?” Viktor said, trying to wrap his head around Aslan’s dishonest. Didn’t he care about his daughter?

Viktor went quiet.
“Resent her? For what? For...for what happened to her mom?” He asked.
He and Bernadette had a very open relationship and shared just about everything with one another. He knew about her mother, he knew nearly as many details about her passing as Bernadette herself.
“That’s not fair.” He said.
