It had been almost two years since Jack met Phlox, since she had Lazlo, and since he had initially fallen in love with her. He'd always admired Phlox, in the way that she carried herself and that she didn't take shit from anybody; even when she was blind. She was strong and fearless, Jack couldn't picture himself with anyone else. Looking at her now, he had just finished a small job and had come home and was watching her play with baby Lazlo. She was a great mom and a great wife, although probably unconventional by some standards. All the same, Jack was in love and he was feeling a little remorseful. All the drama with Natas and just keeping up with the children he had fallen behind; he still hadn't actually married Phlox. Although he very munch considered her his wife and referred to her as such, he had denied her an official ceremony.

"Hey, Phlox." Jack finally spoke from his place in the doorway, announcing that he was there.

Phlox had never bothered with the idea of marriage, after all, she was bound to a community where hunters married other hunters more often than not and she was previously, by all ordinary conventions in their community, "defective". But somehow, despite the odds, in more recent times not only had she found the undoubtable love of her life and the father of her children, but she had become engaged to this man (although their marriage date was still up in the air).

She had been waiting for the aforementioned man, Jack Keres Maniac, to come home from a job by occupying her time by laying on the floor with their son in an attempt to get him crawling. She looked up when she heard Jack's voice and gave him a smile over her shoulder before scooting over so Lazlo could see him.

"Say hi to your dumb da-da." She said, to which Lazlo responded by giving several eager coos towards Jack and frantic leg kicks. "How was the job?" She asked Jack then, grinning as Lazlo tried to move even more fervently.

Jack crossed the room and scooped up his son, ticking his stomach and blowing into his cheek before answering Phlox.

"It was fine, just a quickie." He replied before lowering himself onto the floor to sit across from Phlox. He sat Lazlo back down on the floor in front of them, before facing Phlox. "So, we're engaged." He announced somewhat, as though to say he hadn't forgotten.

Phlox quirked a brow as she moved to sit up then.

"Yeah, I haven't forgotten." She said, chuckling a bit.

"Good, good. Me neither." He nodded with certainty. "I was thinking, we should do it. Actually get married, I mean. Soon, maybe this weekend sometime if you're free." He decided then.

"Waitwaitwait, hold on." Phlox waved her hand at Jack as she furrowed her brows. "You want to get married? This weekend? We haven't planned anything yet though."

"You think it will take that long to figure out?" Jack asked with an arched brow. "Well, what kind of wedding would you want? Like a big one, or...?" He asked.

"Well, not in particular, no. I mean, I don't really care how 'fancy' or lowkey everything is, but...do you really want to do that?" Phlox asked, unable to contain a smile. She meant what she said. She wouldn't mind having the most ordinary wedding as long as she got to marry Jack.

"Of course I want to." Jack grinned in reaction. "I've always wanted to, things have just been so hectic; life kind of got in the way...But I still want to if that's alright with you." He explained.

"Yes, it's alright with me." Phlox laughed and proceeded to stretch over Lazlo on the floor so she could kiss Jack then.

Jack grinned into the kiss, pulling away only to kiss her forehead as an afterthought.

"I was actually thinking about eloping?" He proposed.

"Eloping? With or without the kids?" Phlox asked, pursing her lips then. Her parents were pretty hands-off and Jack's were deceased so the idea of not having "family" around for their day never really bothered her, but after having Lazlo especially made things different. She looked down and noted Lazlo looking up at both of his parents, craning his head intensely as if he knew he'd been mentioned in some way.

"Whatever you want. If you want some alone time, I'm always an advocate for that. Black could watch them, but if you want the kiddos there, that's fine with me." He said.

"I mean...I'd like to be able to get away for a few days, but I think I'd want them there. It's a big day for all of us really." Phlox said as she scooped up Lazlo then. She bounced him in her arms and listened to him coo before he buried his face into her shoulder.

"Okay, that's fair." Jack nodded. "Is there anywhere special you'd want to go?" He asked then.
