“Sure.” Leon grabbed the flat box before delivering it to Cardinal.

“Last one, huh? They say best for last.” Cardinal joked before carefully opening.

“I hope it’s the best, it’s from me.” Seamus chuckled as he watched with a grin.

Inside the box was a office folder with a picture of a quaint little house taped to the front of it. Inside the folder was a series of documents all held together with paper clips with a single sticky note on top that read “it’s ours!” In Seamus’s distinctly indistinct handwriting.

Cardinal already looked inquisitive upon seeing the folder. She peeled up at Seamus with an arched brow before opening the folder. She flipped through the papers, bright eyes focused hard on its contents before she looked back to Seamus.

“No! You’re not serious!” She exclaimed with the beginnings of a grin on her face.

“Totally serious. Me and Dad have been working on getting it for a couple of months. Paperwork all got finalized Tuesday. It’s ready to move into whenever you are.” Seamus grinned proudly.

Cardinal slapped Seamus’s arm playfully and laughed giddily. “Seamus, oh my god, you bought us a house!”

“I did, but I have a few more surprises too.” Seamus said before gesturing for Murphey to come over and help him.

Murphey went over to Seamus and offered a stabling arm as Seamus proceeded to push himself out of his wheelchair to stand. He clutched at Murphey’s arm and stood stiffly before wobbly easing himself down onto a knee before Cardinal.

“I wish I’d gotten to do this when it was a little easier.” He chuckled a bit before nervously reaching for his back pocket where he pulled a small velvet box from.

Cardinal gasped and cupped her hands over her mouth as Seamus eased onto one knee. Of course she knew what was happening, Cardinal and Seamus had talked about getting married but there wasn’t a proposal this formal before.

"This is really embarrassing, but, Cardinal, did you know that I had the fattest crush on you in high school? Even before you started coming around, even before Alby started hanging out with Leon, just days and days and days before that...I had a crush on you." Seamus chuckled. "So it was probably only the third or forth time Alby had started bringing you around to hang out that I knew I felt like I loved you. Of course, I didn't say it or act on it, because that's what crazy people do, but I want you to know that I've loved you long before we decided to move in together, before we started school together, before we started a family together. And in the whole time we've been together, despite the ups and downs, despite being knocked on our asses and suffering all our losses, I have never stopped loving you and I know that in the future there will never be a time I stop." He proceeded to swallow a nervous knot as he opened up the box and revealed a modest little ring, simple silver band with an even simpler little diamond set upon it. "Cardinal, will you marry me?"

“Yes! Of course I will, yes!” Cardinal exclaimed, blubbering as she fell on her knees and accepted the ring. Smothering Seamus with small pecks all over his face.

Seamus laughed, clearly pleased, and let go of Murphey so he could wrap his arms around Cardinal as she smothered him in affection. He managed to catch a few nips here and there, though it was admittedly a bit wet and too giddy to be saucy by any means. Everyone clapped and voiced their well wishes as the two had their moment. Towards the end, Seamus peeled back a bit to look at Cardinal, pushing her hair back.

"Let me get back up, hmm? We still have cake and games for everyone." He said.

“Of course, how embarrassing you doing this to me in front of all these people.” Cardinal laughed, wiping her happy ears as she gave Seamus room to get up. Offering her arm for support.

"I know. You should have let Alby pick up an outfit for you." Seamus lightly teased as he got back up, trying not to put too much of his weight on Cardinal as he was insistently fussy over her while pregnant. He was able to stand back up and promptly seated himself back in his chair. "I've been working hard in physical therapy to do that. The doctor says I'm actually doing much better than he anticipated. I might be more mobile than they thought before."

“Oh? I’ll miss racing on the back of your chair. I was hoping to make it to the skatepark after the baby was born.” Cardinal teased. “I always knew you’d be fine. You’ve been faking it all this time for all I know.”

"You got me. It's been too nice having everyone fuss over me." Seamus joked, reaching up to pet at Cardinal's cheek again before gently coaxing her down for another kiss. "I'll just have to sit on that bench with the baby and watch you wheel around for the both of us. Sans my chair."
