Priya smiled softly. Il Soon looked cute like that, all lit up. But she supposed there was something bittersweet to his excitement, like he said, he had never met another bulgae before.

“She often remarked he was handsome.” Priya began then. “She said he was clever, a bit of a smart ass. But all of us at court though she had a crush on him.” She nodded.

“She met him here? In the states? I wonder if he’s still around.” Il Soon wondered aloud. “My mom told Ki-Moon that she and our dad were both bulgae, but he died before we were born and then she died a little after, just before Han’s mom.” He explained, not really sad, not really anything. He just spoke factually. It had happened a time before he could remember, so there was no reason to be truly emotional.

Il Soon noted the way Priya spoke of the Queen in the past tense.

“Is she...gone now?” He asked.

Priya made a bit of a face, her mother hadn’t made it out alive and that was devastating. But to lose her queen too, it was equally hard to cope with. The faerie Queen of her court did not survive the massacre, her frame cremated and mixed amongst the ash from burnt down trees.

“She is gone.” Priya answered.

Il Soon wasn’t naive, he knew about the faerie burnings, everyone did, but this was the first time he’d met someone who had been there, who had dealt with the loss first hand.

He reached out to place a hand on Priya’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry. I’m sure that she would be glad you were here though.” He nodded.

Priya feigned a weak smile, appreciating the gesture.

“I’m sure she would be. She’d be happy anyone got out alive.” Priya agreed. Queen Cassiopeia was a character, she was loud and whimsical, but stern and unforgiving when the situation called for it. Her court was quite peaceful, casual even. She was sort of that cool mom, the other faeries would hang all over her and she’d fawn over every one. A light contrast to Priya’s actual birth mother, Oona. Oona was reserved and soft, she mothered her children but was never their friend. Where Cassiopeia was traveled and sensual, Oona had only left the realm to conceive children, so twice.

“I think I should be heading back, before it gets much later.” She said then.

“Will you be alright? Should I walk you?” Il Soon asked, a bit of guilt wrinkling his brow. Maybe he had overstepped and made her uncomfortable.

Il Soon perked and lit up with relief before he scrambled to get up and peruse through his and his brother’s shared wardrobe. He found one of “his” sweaters and returned to give it to Priya.

“Hopefully this will be long enough.” He said. He wasn’t a very tall man, meaning his shirts and clothes weren’t very long. He worried that Priya’s wings might poke out at the bottom.

Priya shrugged on the jacket, peeking behind her to see where her wings fell. They did stick out a bit at the bottom but it was better than nothing.

“Well let’s hope no one with the Society sees me before I get back to camp.” She said.

“That’ll be pretty easy. I know the back alleys of the city pretty well as long as you can tell me where I’m taking you.” Il Soon nodded, heading for the bedroom door then.
