Since Irving had departed, Grey wore her disguise once again and bought copious amounts of pregnancy tests. Many hours later of dreading telling Emerson, contemplating the horrors of pregnancy and parenthood; she had since lost herself in pregnancy oblivion. She was sitting in the bathroom, in a heap of empty packages and instructions for dozens of different pregnancy tests, all the pee sticks positive and in the trash. She jolted upon hearing the door open and Emerson call out.

Scrambling, she threw all the packages into the bathtub and closed the curtain.

Casual.

She poked her head out of the bathroom and forced a smile.

"Welcome home, your brought takeout? Thank you." She signed, shutting the door behind her and crossing the hall to meet Emerson. She gave him a brief but still tender kiss on the cheek before taking the bags from him. "How was work?" She asked aloud.

Emerson smiled pleasantly at the affection, but his face instantaneously shriveled upon the question about work.

"Nawt gewd." He said, simply as he headed over to the living room table, setting everything down before flopping back onto the couch. "I happy to be home wiff yoo." He admitted, gesturing for her to come take a seat with him.

Grey smiled, already feeling guilty and anxious as she eased onto the couch beside him. Grey had sat beside Emerson 1000 times before, even on him, before they were dating even; Grey hung all over him. But given the news, news she was anticipating sharing, she felt stiff and nervous sitting so close and harboring such a secret. Even if it would only be a secret for a little longer.

She wanted to just blurt it out. But, Emerson wouldn't hear it, and also Irving warned her about how Emerson takes surprised.

Emerson glanced over at Grey, noticing the stiffness in the way she sat. He cocked a brow and lightly pat at her shoulder to get her attention.

"Are you okay?" He signed.

Grey was good a lot of things, but lying and keeping secrets were definitely not on the list. She wasn't sure if it was all in her head or actually happening, but she was positive she was sweating.

She was a nervous sweater. Grey's Mom always said, she knew when Grey was lying as a kid because she would start to sweat. Literally, in the hot seat.

Still, Grey just tried to be an adult. She swallowed the lump in her throat, anxiously fidgeting her hands and diverting her gaze.

"Um...There's something, I need to talk to you about." She began aloud.

Emerson instantly found a worried knot forming in his stomach when he watched Grey divert her gaze from him. He sat upright and reached out to touch at her chin, trying to coax her to look back at him.

"Wat's wong?" He asked.

She looked at him then, though still anxious him touching her at all brought some comfort.

"I don't mean to surprise you, it was a huge surprise to me too." Grey began. "Do you remember, last night at dinner when Irving made a joke about me getting pregnant?"

Emerson frowned.

"Did he say something else?" He demanded, already reaching for his phone to scold his brother.

"No, no." Grey said quickly, waving her hands. "I got, paranoid...I was sure, that if I took a test...It would obviously be negative and I would feel better." Grey said, voice trailing off.

Emerson watched Grey's lips closely as she spoke. He wasn't exactly following.

"And...it was negative, right?" He asked, fairly confident himself that he and Grey executed the safest practices when it came to their sex life. Sure, there were a few times here and there that they didn't have a condom handy, but Grey was on birth control and most times he had protection on his end.

Grey's brows furrowed, unsure how Emerson would react next. But she simply shook her head 'no.'

Emerson's eyes widened and his jaw dropped a bit, stunned. He stared at Grey for a minute before giving a slow shake of his head.

"You're joking right? You and Irving?" He asked.

Grey continued to shake her head. "No, no jokes. I'm...Pregnant." Grey said slowly.

Emerson stared still before giving another little shake of his head, not necessarily upset per se, but not entirely sure that it COULD be true.

"No yoo nawt." He insisted aloud then.

Grey made a face and furrowed her brows. "Emerson, yes I am. I took like 100 tests today." Grey pressed.
