Eventually, Sal made it through the crowd and upon reaching Arte realized...he wasn't really sure what to say to her. They weren't really friends, he'd hardly ever talked to her except in passing on the few occasions she was over at their family home. She seemed nice enough, but he knew next to nothing about her really.
"Uh...hi." He greeted awkwardly.

Arte flushed a bit, she didn't get a lot of interaction with the opposite sex. Then again, were Lucinda's brothers even the same species.
"Hey." She replied bashfully, searching for something else to say before flashing him her phone screen. "Your sister sends her regards."

Sal blinked and raised his hands in "surrender".
"I didn't mean to offend, I just meant...I don't know, he's not what I'd expect of a senior officer somewhere else. I just assumed that meant..." Sal stopped, thinking it wiser not to press on. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you or make it seem I didn't appreciate the work he does."

Sal pursed his lips, impossibly embarrassed that he'd managed to ruffle Arte's feathers enough for her to be mad at him. She seemed so much softer before, a little bit of a scaredy cat. He didn't think she had the capacity to be mad at anyone.
"I'm sorry." He said again, reaching up to scrub at the back of his neck.

Sal brightened a bit at apparently having been forgiven, but it was fleeting as he became a little flustered.
"Could you not tell Lucinda? She'd rip me a new ass if she knew I made you mad." He said quickly.
