It had nearly been two months since Viktor and Bernadette started dating, but really, it’d only been a few weeks since they came out about it to Viktor’s family (though, let’s be real, they already knew). Adrik and Asha wanted to celebrate properly with their youngest, so they invited the new couple out to dinner.

But then Bernadette got sick. Multiple times. And after cancelling and rescheduling several times, Viktor thought they’d finally make it to dinner when Bernadette texted him and told him she wasn’t well again. It was just as well, he supposed, Adrik had gone out of town for work, so it would have just been them with Asha anyhow.

He was sad about it, but Asha made sure there was no time for that as she insisted they go out on a mother and son date.

They both rode over to their favorite restaurant, a high end buffet that offered multiple cultural cuisine. Viktor was feeling a bit better with a plate full of his favorite foods, but was still ultimately disappointed, and it showed.

Bernadette was over the moon and in puppy love. Though to be honest not much had changed besides their constant touching. Lots of handholding and face cupping, kisses and general necking. Which Bernadette was a fan of it all, though neither of them had any experience prior, Bernadette felt pretty good about it. With the exception as of late, she’d had an awful stomach bug. Her nausea was through the roof for seemingly no reason, she was constantly throwing up and feeling faint at the mere sight and smell of certain foods.

Asha didn’t know that though, well, at least not the extent of it anyways. She sat across from her favorite son; idly swirling her iced tea with a straw as she assessed her sons expression.

“You’re sad Bertie missed out again?” She asked.

Viktor let out a sad little sigh and bobbed his head.

“Yeah, I just wish it was easier to get everyone together. I mean, it’s not super important or anything, but I want to celebrate with everyone.” Viktor admitted.

“Mm, it’s been a few weeks now, but it comes and goes. I asked if she wanted me to see if Peter could see her, but she said she thought it was just a stomach bug.” Viktor explained as he pushed around some of his pasta on his plate with a crab leg he’d gotten.

Asha couldn’t help but laugh, that was less possible than what she was thinking.

“Oh honey, I don’t think Bernadette has it in her to do something like that, much less to you.” Asha snorted, laughter trailing into a sigh.

“I just worry.” Viktor sighed himself as he slumped in his chair. “I worry and I wish there was some way to help her feel better. I feel like she’s always puking or shirking off food.”

“There might be, you know when I was pregnant with you kids and got nauseous, your Dad would get me a mint tea. Mint is supposed to help with nausea.” Asha began, leaning forward and cupping her cheek in her palm. “You don’t think she’s pregnant do you?” She asked then.
