It took a few seconds to process what Cardinal had said, but as soon as the words settled, Seamus stopped with his thumb tracing and his eyes flew open. He turned his head to look at Cardinal.

"Wait...what'd you say?" He wanted to clarify what he'd heard.

"I...since when? We...when?" Seamus sputtered, though, it was definitely sounding like happy sputtering.

“I’m not sure, I didn’t ask. That might be a separate doctors visit.” Cardinal laughed.

"I...and the doctor said they were alright?" Seamus asked, eyes lighting up (as much as they could, little drug fiend).

“Yes, they’re fine.” Cardinal nodded, smiling then seeing that Seamus seemed happy.

"And...you're okay? I mean...with the situation?" Seamus asked carefully. It tore the both of them up when Cardinal miscarried, but it took a harsher toll on her admittedly.

It'd been a hot minute since the accident and while Cardinal herself had been released from the hospital shortly after, Seamus had been forced to remain due to the extensive nature of his injuries. Though, this didn't mean Seamus didn't see much of his girlfriend, as she was almost always there despite having been greenlit to go home. She'd been doing a good job of keeping him company, keeping his spirits high, and keeping him well fed on his favorite sandwiches.

Even today, she waited with him in his room for a doctor to come give him a once over so he could, in theory, go home with Cardinal soon. He had some worries, of course, like the lack of some feeling in his legs, but he assumed he would be prescribed some physical therapy to mend that like everything else.

Currently, he was sitting in bed, watching UP with Cardinal on his laptop his father had so graciously gone to his and Cardinal's apartment to get for them. .

Cardinal was sitting cross legged on a chair, pulled up close to her boyfriends bedside while she munched on potato chips; fisting her good hand into the bag loudly.

“This movie is the best.” She uttered in awe of it still as she watched.

"Mm, I know it's your fave, that's why I asked Dad to get it off the shelf. When we both get home, we need to organize that by the way. He said he had to go through ten different DVD cases to find the right one." Seamus teased lightly as he reached over to idly smooth at Cardinal's hair as they sat and watched.

Meanwhile, there was a light knock at the door. Seamus looked up just in time to see Doctor Dennington entering.

"Hello Seamus, I hope I'm not interrupting." He said.

"Not at all. We were just waiting." Seamus paused the movie and closed the laptop.

Cardinal straightened out and sat up then, sitting down her chips to pay attention to whatever the doctor had to say.

"How're you feeling today?" The doctor asked as he went ahead and perched himself in a nearby stool.

"I'm alright, still sore in some places, but definitely better than I have been." Seamus nodded.

"That's good, that's good." Doctor Dennington said as he fussed with the file, which was full of copies of Seamus's charts and x-rays. He licked his lips a bit. "So, we've reviewed all the tests and x-rays we've done and... Seamus, the prognosis isn't very...good."

Cardinal's gaze shifted between Seamus and the Doctor with concern, she reached out with her good hand to grab his and give it a gentle squeeze.
